Uh...I guess considering your tastes, I'm not surprised. Truth is, I usually ride out on shit hip-hop CDs the day after I get them. My negative reactions to them tend to be more visceral.
And to McGarvey's credit, he linked to my footbal/rapper post and was pretty much the only guy to slam the Kanye CD on a widely-read music cite.

I go through an odd process with crappy hip-hop. Objectively, I know it sucks when I hear it, and I slam it. I then ignore it for a while and hope it will go away. When it doesn't, I come back to it, listen to it some more, and develop more sophisticated crticisms while also assimilating much of it.
I mean, I've always thought Fergie was busted; she looks like what would comeout if you spliced Carmen Electra's DNA with that of a leather ottoman.
I'm stealing this and using it to impress all my friends. Expect a residual check in a few weeks.

I'm not here to defend Primus in the least, every once in a while I get a little itch for Claypool, but god knows it can't last more than one song, so certainly, say what you will about Primus. But, everyone has to admit to the badassness, even if it's just a hilarious badassness, of the Whamola.

Agreed on Fergie, lumps, etc. Since becoming aware of her presence (surprisingly recently, actually), I've had an aversion, but I wasn't able to explain it fully until I ran into this photo in the same Pitchfork article you cite:

I'm catching the one in Cambridge a few days later, but I figure there's something special about seeing DCB and Nastanovich back on the Corner after all these years.

Really, I think the most disappointing thing about BEP is that to my knowledge, no one's been calling Fergie "MC Pee Pants."
I was actually in C-ville for the GT game, and I'm thinking I might try to come up for Foxfield, depending on how finals pan out with my 10-credit semester.
the "spankmaster" jpeg really is prohibitive to "sexy-results" viewing at work, especially given that "SEXY RESULTS" is in large type across the top of the page.
Were someone to walk into my office they might think the two were related.
