Ah yes nothing says summer warmth/wiffle ball like the opening lines to "Via Chicago".
I'm being asinine but most of the album is definitely summery popp-y but I'm definitely skipping She's A Jar/We're Just Friends/How To Fight Loneliness/Via Chicago if I wanna feel good.
I had lots of other random comments about hipsters, Motown is amazing (Diana Ross and the Supremes is my guilty pleasure, pre-diva shit that is), The B-52's are the funkiest white-boy dance music ever, I know a bunch of "suburban rednecks" who overblow country, Devendra Banhart is great (still can't get over Santa Maria de Feira or Long Haired Child) and "Grass" by Animal Collective was prolly made while the bandmembers were on WAY more than just grass, anything by DBT should induce drinking, etc., etc., etc.
I may have to dissect this meme survey thing or whatever for myself.

Montgomery was actually the capital of the Confederacy at some point -- I can't remember whether it was actually the first capital (before Richmond) or they moved it down there from Richmond once they realized the whole war thing wasn't going that well for them. Either way, gotta give Fun-gomery its props. A friend of mine once saw a guy get shot there.

"Let there be Rock" would have to be the ultimate DBT drinking song. But Ryan Adams is pretty good for drinking on front lawns in Charlottesville.

-Hipster weddding...has me dying of laughter. Hipsters don't get married. That's too mainstream for them.
-Although I didn't go to Hebrew school (I might as well have being the only black kid in Beverly Hills), I feel your pain on the Shai and Silk playing in the car.
-I'm surprised someone hasn't off'd the BEP's by now for coming out with such classics(?) as where is the love, and my humps...
-Can Camp Lo get on love someone's list??? FUCK!

Just to clarify the comment made above, the first capital of the Confederacy was in Montgomery.
In fourth grade, they took us on a field trip to see the state capitol building and the first confederate whitehouse.

Gotcha...I didn't think in the "back in Alabama" line used "back" a placeholder, but I was too lazy to look it up. My roommate at the time of this song's download was from Maryland, so I really didn't have much in the way of fact-checking.

I was a dj at WNRN in college as well. Until Mike C pissed me off so bad that I quit in the middle of a show. I used to do Sunday 12-2pm until i was upgraded to Wed night from 8-10pm (before the Boombox). I never, ever stuck to the rotation wheel. If I didn't like a song that came up in rotation, I just stuffed it in the middle of the box and picked one I liked. Good times.

I usually stuck with it, unless something like Lenny Kravitz or Limp Bizkit popped up. Some shit I just don't take.
Sounds like you had better shifts than me; I started out Tuesdays 2-5:30 AM and got upgraded to Thursday, 6-8 PM. I loved every minute of it except for two facets...a) That bitch from Acoustic Sunrise thought she was hot shit because she did the best during Fundraiser. Yeah, like she didn't have the only time slot where people with jobs are listening. YOU try to get some paper moving from 2-5:30 AM. b) I worked right after Mike C. on Thursdays, and you would think that he'd figure out by now that we work in an enclosed area, and maybe he could shower once in a while out of courtesy.
Like you said, good times.
