Sounds like Laura Kipnis would have a very interesting conversation with Dave Sim.


She might actually agree with some of his criticisms of marriage, yes. Although she'd attribute it to a defect in the concept of marriage, rather than a failing of womankind.


I feel I should note that many of her complaints about being in a relationship are really complaints about sharing living space. Living with a person more or less messy than you are is hell no matter what your relationship is. I speak from bitter experience.

Does Kipnis say anything about the statistics demonstrating that men are more likely to be depressed, suicidal and/or violent if they remain single? Women don't suffer this and are typically better off single. I have no idea why this is, but it's interesting.


Yes, she does. But it's an intentionally one-sided book - says so right on page one.
