Oh, it'll come out. At least we know it's more or less done. I've been waiting for the trade for the second half of Ultimates 2, which has been an especially agonizing... uh, like, two years.

I'm worried about Ultimates 3, too. If I know Madueira, McGuiness may have his pencils for Ultimates 4 done before the first issue of Ultimates 3 even comes out.

Question: How is Captain America the top book of the month when no one could find it and stores underordered because they didn't know Cap was going to get his ass capped in that issue?

Gravatar CA #25 was published on the first week of March, which means that there were three weeks for retailers to place reorders (which would be grouped with the original orders on this chart).

That's ample time to more than triple the numbers...

Gravatar The second printing of CAPTAIN AMERICA #25 shipped on 28 March, so it'll be included in this figure.

Gravatar Those reorders don't look all that promising then, given the media push (then again, I'm comparing this with early 90s events). Is this really the most copies Marvel can shift with front page news? I still can't shake the feeling they dropped the ball with this.

Gravatar "may be the first non-Marvel title to finish in the Top Ten in several years."
I obviously don't understand how they work these numbers out, as I thought Infinite Crisis was pretty regularly in the top ten. Or do they count that as "several years" ago?

I also wouldn't be surprised to discover that Ultimates 4 is finished before Ultimates 3. Of course, that's not something Marvel would admit if it did happen.

Gravatar That was a typo; they've changed it to read "non-Marvel or DC".

I don't know how to convert the "index" number into a usable figure, but as far as I can tell, Captain American #25 outsold Mighty Avengers #1 by a ratio of better than two to one. I'm not sure how much more successful the book could realistically have been.

Gravatar I was looking for an interview with Bryan Hitch on his work on Doctor Who, and came across this at SBC.

"Hitch and crew have been making good time this go around, and they’re certain that everything’ll be banged out on schedule straight through the end of their run. "

“It’s a bit nuts, but we’re getting these twelve issues out at a better pace, no doubt about that.” - Hitch.

Shame about the 13th, isn't it?

Gravatar Ooh! Oooh! Here's my index theory: you've picked up a publisher to produce the damn things as a massive coffee table book. Sign me up for a first printing!

(You have to admit there's some meat to the idea...)

Gravatar To be honest, I think it's entirely possible I copied the quote wrong. I'll go back and edit the entry, anyhow.
