Gravatar I pretty much agree with everything you said but I expect Batista to retain somehow especially if JBL is the referee (which he really should be seeing as Austin & Foley don't seem to care enough to put in an appearance), then Batista could easily punch him as these two have been at it the past couple of weeks.

I really hope it is not another PPV with Big Daddy V in it, the two minute match last time was an absolute joke. Also I think they might end up doing the losers(Kennedy/Hardy) against the tag champs as that always seems to happen.

Don't rule out Chris Jericho or Edge appearances either.

Gravatar I wouldn't really call Cyber Sunday's voting a risky strategy. As you say, the WWE makes most of the votes inconsequential and spends weeks steering the audience towards their preferred choice.

For example, the WWE is pushing JBL as referee, but it won't matter whether it is JBL, Foley, or Austin.

The stip for the Rey/Finlay match doesn't matter. They are all effectively no-DQ. Only some basic actions will differ, and maybe a few spots will be based around each option.

The vote for Orton's match matters on some level, but not necessarily that much. All three options are viable future matches, so any work spent planning for the two options that ultimately lose could be recycled on later episodes of Raw. As well, the WWE can see the voting and judge which is going to win anyway.

Or look at the prior year's "pick the outfit for the Women's match"...

The WWE learned their lessons from the original Taboo Tuesday, where as I recall, voting did have some major impact.

Gravatar Well, I'll be there live, so wish me luck. (I'm not foolish enough to have purchased any tickets though, let's be reasonable.)

Gravatar Something kind of struck me with this. When did tag teams change from a major cornerstone of a wrestling promotion to the sideshow? It's been years since WWE tag teams were anything but space filler. I mean, I can see why they might do it, but it seems kind of weird.

Gravatar When you say Miz is "charismaticall irritating" would I be right in thinking Jimmy Carr?

Gravatar Not to be pedantic but Jeff Hardy has had at least one world title shot before - a ladder match against The Undertaker in the summer of 2002. It was a decent match, although it was one of those deals where they mistakenly attempted to make the challenger look good by getting the shit kicked out of him.

Gravatar Er, no, Miz is nothing remotely like Jimmy Carr. Basically, his gimmick is that he's a complete wanker who's utterly convinced that he's the coolest guy in the room. The sort of person you go out of your way to avoid at parties.

Gravatar I've been expecting Miz to be the next challenger for Punk once he beats Mahoney.

Hardy might have had two shots, because the ladder match led out of a regular match where Taker beat him. Don't know if it was for the belt though

Gravatar So if I were to insist on thinking of him as a C4 presenter, as my mind is, for some reason, Vernon Kay would be closer to the mark?

Gravatar Paul, I'm a touch curious what the outcome your suspicious of was.

Gravatar The guest referee spot, which Eric Bischoff implausibly won by a suspiciously round number despite there being no obvious reason to vote for him. They needed him to win so that he could get the whole of the next day's Raw to promote his book.

Gravatar My favourite was last year when weeks were spent trying to get viewers to vote for Dusty Rhodes as Ric Flair's tag partner, then everyone voted for Roddy Piper instead anyway.

Gravatar I thought it was a much better PPV than the last one. Couple of things I didn't like were Miz getting the vote over Morrison, JBL not being referee and HHH pinning Umaga, again. That was a cracking match to be honest as was the opener.

Orton/HBK went on longer than I expected given his dodgy knees and was entertaining. The Taker/Batista match was better than expected. I'd classify the show as "good" or "enjoyable".
