I read the Marvel sales column. Excellent stuff. By the way, we've all heard of the "Marvel zombies" term. How come no one ever talks about "DC Zombies"? At least coming from the comments sections, the DC crowd seems to be way more defensive nowadays. You know, the comments that go along the lines of "You don't understand DC because it's way more diverse" or that one accusatory comment that you'd be happy if DC was dead when you were merely commenting on the state of the business. I would have posted this in the comment section of your article, but I fear it would have just been a magnet for that kind of thing.

Gravatar for the most part the sales sharts read like latin for me, but ive always been interested..and the play-by-play helped alot. there were some suprising turns in numbers as a fan of many titles. the 'classified information' seemed like a fun turn from a readers standpoint anyway.. thanks!

The reason you don't hear about "DC Zombies" is because it's a term Marvel invented for their most blindered fans. The version I heard, in some FAQ that may or may not have been accurate at the time and probably hasn't been updated or archived since the 1990s, went as follows: some idiot wrote in to Marvel talking about how much he loved Marvel Comics and how he bought everything they publish, but please cancel GROO THE WANDERER because it's shit and he hated wasting his money on it. The response was, of course, don't buy it if it's not to your taste, we're glad you like our comics but don't be a Marvel zombie. Eventually it became a term of affection rather than derision, as they often do. I've heard a few people referred to as DC "sheep" or "lemmings" in flame wars (weren't those the same terms WCW and WWF fans used to use to mock each other in the 90s?) but I doubt we'll ever see anything as catchy as 'Marvel zombies.'
