Oh God.
A friend of mine introduced me to 666 and DDT recently.
For a good range of characters from 666, watch this:

And if you can't get enough of MECHA-Mummy! (I know i can't), watch this match between him and actual renowned Shoot fighter/Wrestler, Minoru Suzuki.

Does anyone besides me think that this is going to blow off in a Ramu/Mummy! match that will shatter PPV and Attendence records?

Echoing the first commenter: Oh my god.
I especially like how the second wrestler dutifully crosses his legs as the girl pins him.
The world is truly a strange and wondrous place.

I prefer Hustle meself, but the sheer insanity of the Ladder holding the title in DDT, and the retirement ceremony for the Ladder - were brilliant

The kid is a star. Why has nobody made a cheesy holloywood flick based on her 'story' yet? It'd be great. The plot could go something along the lines of 'cute girl idolises her wrestling daddy but then he gets injured so she goes into shows herself in order to get the money to pay his medical bills.' Or something like that.
Sometimes I have such a weird imagination I surprise even myself.

I remember I once told my girlfriend that there was a ladder match on Smackdown the night before. She asked, "Did the ladder win?"
Man, this really makes me miss the 24/7 Hardcore Title. I want them to hang a belt on Mr. Socko!

Now why can't Channel Four show this stuff on Sunday mornings?

Wow. This is just beautiful. I'd like to echo the marvelous insanity of a ladder winning a title not once, but three separate times. Does that mean the ladder had to actually "fight" matches in order to defend the belt?

Well, it's 24/7 rules, so on two of those occasions the ladder was simply pinned by another wrestler.
On the third occasion, the ladder was apparently persuaded to vacate the title.

SHE CAN DO A 619?!?!?!
WWE/TNA/ROH/Whoever needs to sign her now!
Anyone seen Chikara? I love it, it's like DDT/666 but with more lucha-libre action.

You know, I just realized something: that should be "President Lum" rather than "President Ramu" -- she's named after a character from Takahashi's Urusei Yatsura. That's why in the first video, the theme music from the UY cartoon is playing.

Well, her T-shirt says "666 Ram." I think it all depends which system of transliteration you use. As I recall, Japanese words can't end in a consonant (except for N), and so they have a tendency to add a vowel at the end when they're adopting foreign words.
Terry: You could, of course, interpret the fact that a little girl can do a 619 as evidence that it's not that hard after all...

One of the running gags between my friends and I is to speculate what it would be like if comic writers started writing/booking for pro wrestling. Usually, we have a field day joking about the possibility of Peter Milligan and Mike Allred co-writing a decently-funded wrestling fed. Well, now I know *exactly* how it would look...
Thank you *so* much for blogging about 666! I wasn't aware of its existence before reading this...
Incidentally, this sort of begs a related question -- given that WWE prefers hiring "non-fans" with a TV background for their writing team, do you feel there is any chance of an established Big Two scribe crossing over to the WWE? I know Brian Azzarello and Jill Thompson are self-confessed wrestling enthusiasts (with the latter having illustrated one of Mick Foley's children's books). It seems like Vince & Co. would prefer a Joss Whedon or Allan Heinberg type as their head writer, but do you think they would ever consider the possibility of taking on a comic writer instead? And if so, who do you think would be the ideal choice?
Personally, I'm partial to Mark Millar, if only because of how Ultimates 2 has been written, so far. It's got all the hallmarks of classic pro wrestling booking -- we've had a "heel turn" from Black Widow; Hawkeye doing a "Ricky Morton"/face-in-peril comeback sequence; trash-talking (Hulk vs. Abomination); shadowy behind-the-scenes manipulation (the Loki stuff); high spots (take your pick!). Oh, and the way Thor has been written seems like a reasonable way to handle all the various quasi-supernatural characters that WWE insists on us pushing ('Taker, Kane, Boogeyman, etc.)
Any idea which industry pays its writers better?

I can't imagine anybody from comics wanting to write for the WWE. They do have head writers for each show, but they're very tightly controlled. And the writing (in theory, at least) should be subordinate to the wrestling, which is something that writers have trouble adapting to. The main point of the stories in wrestling is simply to provide a context in which people care about the matches. (TNA don't seem to understand this, which is one of their biggest problems.)

Paolo, I think Marvel's Thor would make a great wrestling character. He looks the part, he's got a ridiculous backstory, and he even has an "illegal weapon".

Marvel's Thor is basically Triple H anyway. He's got the beard, the hammer, and on WM 22 he had the outfit.

Given the limits of what they can do without accidently killing her, she's a actually pretty decent wrestler. She can sell a move, she has more than two of them and she's light on her feet.

We need to make sure Triple H never finds out about her. Otherwise once Aurora Rose gets to be 11, she'll be taking over the WWE.

This President Ramu, or whatever her actual name is, cracks me up. Yes, she's obviously very talented (acrobatics and gymnastics training, no doubt). Her videos should be shown to anyone who still insists that wrestling isn't fake. Are there videos of her, or does she have a website? I'd like to find more info on her for the wrestling fans I know.
