What about a zipper? Sew the pillow on two sides, flip the case inside out, sew a zipper in, and flip them back!

I know they make heavy duty zippers just for pillows and stuff, or you could use a sweater zipper.

so are you in the east coast? when do I get to see you?!

that twinkle yarn is great and I know a certain online yarn store is going to start carrying it in the next few days ; )

The colors for your tote are stunning. I can't wait to see it.

Wow! That Twinkle yarns is pretty afordable huh?!?

Those are some pretty colors you've selected. I've always thought the Seaberry Shell was cute. What yarn did you use?

I also thought of a zipper. Or you could do snaps but they could fall off as with buttons......

Nice to see you blogging again - we've missed you! I love the colors you've chosen for your tote. (I gotta get me some MD Knitting).

Oh, and come pick up your pattern!

Hi Yahaira, YES I'm in NY typing this right now! Let's get together- I'll e-mail you later!! P.S. Pureknits ROCKS!

Hi Jeanine, The yarn I used for the Seaberry Shell is called Garnstudio Ice. It's a superbulky acrylic and cotton blend with a ropy kind of twist. The acrylic really helped it keep its shape and not be too heavy. I made it in a soft green color.

Ooo, the new vogue sounds awesome, and I usually don't find much on them to knit. Maybe this time...

Hi Illanna - thanks for the Garnstudio Ice recommendation! Can I ask how much you needed for the Seaberry Shell, and what size you made it in?

The IK pattern calls for two (!!) skeins of Twinkle Cruise, but it looks like you'd actually need more like eight. I'd like to make this sweater for less than $80

Thanks!

I made the Seaberry Shell using 6 skeins of the Garnstudio Ice, and I used just one strand of it throughout. When I joined in a new ball, I used the Russian Join method so that I would be able to use less yarn. The yarn that the pattern calls for has huge yardage, so I guessed that they never had to change skeins and therefore had very few ends to weave in. Each skein of the ice only has about 50 yards so I didn't want to waste it each time I had to change balls. I wouldn't recommend doing this again though. Since the yarn is so bulky, I can kind of see where I did the Russian Join. I made sure to only do it on the edges, but I can still see it there. If you don't do the Russian Join, you might actually need 7 balls instead of 6.

I also added some waist shaping to make the shell more flattering for me. I decreased once on each side of each peice, every 3 rows 3 times, and then increased every 3 rows 3 times. I didn't take the best notes, but this is what I remember. I basically followed the instructions in the "Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns" for adding shaping, so if you have that you can follow that using the formula that they give.

About the size- I don't remember exactly what size I made. I'm out of town and I don't have the magazine here to look up what the different sizes were. I usually make a size 33 or 34 in tanks and shells, so if one of those sizes exists for that pattern, it's probably the one I made.

oh those socks look wonderful - they're just gorgeous! and I love the colors you picked that are all commingling in that bowl like exotic fruit :D

As for the pillows, zippers are good, but you could also go with those toggle buttons - i would tihnk they are more secure than the regular round kind but then maybe not - The ones I was going to use for my leaf lace pullover seemed secure for the little while I had them on the sweater....

Hi
I am new to reading your blog - but I love it! Love the colors, love the blogs, LOVE LOVE LOVE (and am addicted to) the Mason*Dixon Book!

Kuddos!

To everyone that gave ideas for the pillows: Thanks! I'm going to try to do the zipper (I've never tried that before) and if it's too messy, i'll try the toggle buttons. That will be a project for when I get back to Arizona, next month.

I can't wait to see your finished tote! The colors you chose look amazing! I agree about the upcoming VK, BTW. Looks great! Good luck with the zippers!

Hi! I see on the lefthand side of your website that you made entrelac socks - I can't believe it! Where can I view them?
Entrelac is my next knitting challenge - it is sooo neat and looks so difficult!
