I think we all have learned a few things about each other and life since those days. It is interesting that the issues that were so contraversial at that time have become somewhat tempered as we have all learned more about them.
BTW, Nick, I wish you the best in all of your new adventures!

I peronsally found his writing very unique. However, I think that the editorial and news lines were crossed so many times, people got very confused.
I think that it would have helped to stay on one side or the other.

It appears that since Nick is gone, and shortly before, that the miner has not had any "info" worth reading. Seems like the miner is reverting to what it was ten or so years ago, kind of like something a high school would publish. Or is just me?

Well, I could tell you stories – then I could tell you stories. The truth is that the publishing history in these here parts is very cyclical. A group ("any group") seems to get some spot-light then the "other group" start screaming. If the "other group" outweighs the "any group" when it comes to advertising dollars spent – guess who wins. The groups get played
like a $2 violin.
In 60+ years here I have seen this played over and over so many times I would have to take off my shoes to count them.
The finest fray I was ever privileged to spectate in Kingman was for control of the hospital. That was a 2-camp doozy clustered around each of the two doctors in town at the time. The gloves came off and it was a melee. With the town split almost equally, it didn't look like anybody would get the upper hand.
But one did. You know, the funniest thing is that I can't remember who it was. The fray was more interesting than the players.
History has repeated itself -- once again.

Problems arise when people don't agree with an opinion. Hard news isn't about agreeing with the writer, it's about absorbing the information and basing an opinion on the actions taken by...whomever.
I think it's pretty obvious where the line is between opinion and hard news, considering that one goes on the "opinion" page, and it say at the top, "opinion," but I see you're point, Ken. It can get "very" confusing for some people. Sorry for your confusion, Ken.

Nick --
Good to hear from you. You gotta keep us (your "old" avid readers) posted with your goings-on, man.
Are you at some huge metro on the "investigative team", yet?
Got tons of great news shaping up on the county front right now. Sure need a top-notch writer to blood-hound the stench . . . Oh, hush!
Are you still in town?

Still in town, finding the county squabbles quite amusing, wondering when we're going to get some news on city hall, enjoying some time off. That's about it for me. I'll keep in touch. How could I not?
