Actually, Bullhead makes sense for this venue. They have a lot more hotel rooms and entertainment across the river in Laughlin.
This would be great for Mohave County, and I am please to hear about these kinds of things...
Also, I have heard about a hotel/convention center on Route 66 near downtown. Should be a +$50,000,000 project that will also bring buiness and conventions to Kingman.

Someone quick, please check with the RAID'ers to see if they will allow such a project in Kingman.
How close it is to Seneca??
Will there be room for jungle gym's??
Is the city manager involved??
Would it mean another 40 Super Wal-Marts in Kingman??

Actually, I think the number is closer to 140 Super Wal-Marts! (that number seems more frightening)
Ah..what the hell...let's just throw out a dart at the target and call it 540 Super Wal-Marts!!!

Don't forget that according to them, Wal-Mart(actually Target) is being premature, because we do not have enough people here in Mohave County to support all of those "big retailers".
Did you guys know that Vestar and Vanderbuilt are swinging a deal with Beecher to BUY the CITY'S land for dirt cheap? Check out Gwen's latest in Friday's paper. Again, another illusive comment with out any back up.

"Truth is, it really doesn't matter what the citizens of Kingman want or don't want---the city manager and Council have a time-frame that they are working toward to allow Vanderbilt/Vestar to buy this property." Gwen Gillman,"Just Thinking", Daily Miner, Friday, June 15, 2007.
Could someone please invite her to the debate open to the public on July 10, 2007? Please ask her to bring her evidence. It (her hard evidence) would be interesting to see.
My apologies, she didn't state for "dirt cheap". But if Vestar is condiseridering a bid, wont they have to submit it like everyone else? Surely the City has learned their lesson over the last bidding snafu!

Wow, alot of reading to catch up on, as i have'nt been here as of late.
First, i hope that rumor is true about rt.66 convention center, that is great. I have always wondered why this town has never taken a national icon, that is in their own back yard, and put it to good use. People from around the world drive rt.66, but they pass right thru this town.Someone is thinking down the road, and there is money to be made from route 66. Get people to stop and shop, spend their money in this town, that is the kind of thinking we need here.
As for ms. Gillman's evidence, do you think it might have something to do with the city e-mails????????? hummm
As to the person who questioned the Rattlesnake interchange hold up,I was begining to think that i was the only one that saw something that didnt add up. The application sat on someones desk for a very long time before the FAA got the packet.

You are always welcome here Billie, I love your contributions.
Glad to see that you could support a convention center. Now how about construction of a badly needed interchange at Kingman Crossing??
I have to wonder something. There is no doubt that RAID is the darling of the local media. Every meeting is on the front page, with photos, yadda-yadda.
Why isnt' Mrs. Gillman being more clear about the 'evidence'?? She has a column, why not put the stuff in there for all of us to see??
Why hasn't the Miner run with the 'evidence'??
I have some of the infamous emails too you know. None of it says that Vestar or Vanderbilt is the buyer of the city property. I probably don't have the extensive copies that your group may have though. Why isn't RAID sharing them?? Why didn't RAID share them at the last Council meeting??
As to the FAA, I'm guessing your speaking of the Federal Aviation Administration right?? I can see how they would want to look at such a report with RW being in close proximity to the airport.
But how do you know that it has been sitting on a desk somewhere and for how long??
RAID is just about as bad as the city is in divulging information.
I'm a citizen of this city, I want answers. If your group has them... they need to be a lot more clear. You have the Miner at your will. Make it happen.

Am I to attempt to smell another conspiracy amongst the City Council? Or could it actually be as simple as it is? ADOT cannot get RW onto their agenda until 2014, they do have an entire STATE to build roads on and repairs to make. This has been publicly addressed by the Council, by local realtors and through anyone who calls ADOT and asks. Then the City still has the issue of funding their portion. Unfortunately, I don't see where taking Beecher's salary is going to make up that difference.
I haven't seen or been aware of any solutions to the funding issue other than the Council proposed selling of the City owned lands at Kingman Crossing. I am sure that all of us have wonderful ideas to the solutions, but unless we allow Council to consider our actual proposals, then they will remain just ideas.

The e-mails are not the sole property of RAID, hey why dont you go down and request copies of them. $$$$$$$$$
As for Rattlesnake, All the info is public.
I will try to update you, as best i can.The URS report was done in oct 2006.The FAA didnt get the request, from the city untill march 13th 2007.
The mayor signed form (FAA)7460-1 on
march 8th 2007.
So between oct 2006, and march 13th 2007, the application sat around somewhere. Get the picture.
Its the cities responsiblity to inform the citizens of Kingman on what going on, but we know that is not happening.RAID is trying to do its best to get info out,but come on,
when you have articles that bash the residents of SENECA st, do you think that they will really waste their time sharing info?
I do have a question for you.I know that you have alot of energy, and that you have directed it towards Kingman Crossing, but are you at all concerned about the other issues that are going on in this town?

Absolutely! I even try to keep a watch on the County while we spend so much our time commenting on the "hot" topic of Kingman. And I have a few items to be addressed by the State as well. As a property owner in the City of Kingman, County of Mohave and State of Arizona, I do take personal interest in the preservation of our natural resourses as well as our Constitutional rights.
Coming from another State and living in others, I am aware of the amentities that Az has to offer as well as our potential to growth. Like RAID, I agree with insuring that we get it right, but I do not agree with inspiring people through fear, hatred or half-truths. I want the facts so that when I vote, it will be of good conscious as well as educated to the best of my resourses.
When people misuse information to sway a public decision, it angers me. So I do get passionate about people using their talents and energies to manipulate and control.
I am not the only one who feels that way. That is why Kingman Crossing has become a heated debate instead of what it is, a proposal to our City for the citizens to decide. I personally see the potential of the TI to our growth and development. Beyond that I am still considering how it should be done. But we have to get through point A to allow B to become a reality.

So the emails have damning proof on them and they have been important enough for your group to buy.... but not to share?? I see.
Thanks for the explanation on the RW stuff. There was another project that sat on a desk at the city for far too long as well, and I'm not happy about it either. So I can see where you are coming from, and you are certainly entitled to your feelings on your matter.
My hope is that your effort leads to a kick start of the RW interchange. Would be really neat to see both proposed TI's being built at the same time. Wouldn't you agree??
I've never bashed one resident on Seneca. That is not my style. I simply fail to see the reasoning for the argument that RAID has made multiple times that Seneca is some street that deserves to be protected. A street that was originally platted as wide enough for four lanes in the first place. One that lines up nicely with the new TI at Kingman Crossing. A TI that would no doubt be a benefit to the entire community.
I'm bashing the argument front and square. The 40 plus homeowners that live on Seneca are A-OK in my book.
Other issues do concern me, yes. I'm upset because the Kingman Crossing TI could have been constructed by NOW. Yes I think there is trouble at the city.
I'm also concerned about private property rights and fair taxation. Both tie in right to Kingman Crossing and other improvements the city needs.
I'm concerned about a group of citizens that act as if they're on some holy crusade to allow growth only when they see fit to allow it. Concerned about what a leader of the group recently said when she bragged about getting 1200 sig's for a referendum election and turned right around in the next breath and criticized the city leaders for letting the public decide (in an election) as to whether or not the city should sell its property.
I just can't sit by and let you all get away with the misinformation and the cloak and dagger act.

I said that the answers might be in the e-mails. RAID did not go out and buy any e-mails, are you having a bad hair day today? Talk about getting things turned around and coming out bent ,but thats ok, its happens to the best of people.
What other project sat on someone's desk,( that upset you)?
As for sitting around, and letting all of us give out misinformation, please tell me what misinformation that I HAVE GIVEN./ I like to gather ideas from people and give them food for thought. If more people would share ideas, thoughts, plans, ect:ect:
we could get all kinds of things done.
A"good" idea is something someone comes up with, a "great" idea is were many minds come up with something.

many apologies Billie, I was responding to the $$$$ dollar signs after your one comment that lead me to believe you wanted me to go to the city and 'buy' the emails like Travin had to do.
The other misinformation and cloak and dagger comment was in relation to the often hypocrisy coming from members of RAID when they speak in public.
Namely..
For a major General Plan amendment on 'that' side of town, but the people should vote for on a major General Plan amendment for 'this' side of town.
And...
Let's have a referendum so the people can vote on one issue, but on the other hand be critical of the city if they put a different issue on the very same ballot.
The other issue was the inland ports deal or international trade processing center. That report has been sitting around for a very long time... finished and ready to be sent to the feds for possible funding.
Many great possibilities for the area if the Kingman area is chosen and if it is approved.

You have me on that one,(inland port deal). Is that the same as walmart processing center?, or something new.
Any ideas where i can research this ?
You know me, i want to learn as much as i can. Thanks, oh yes, before i forget, you invited ms. Gillman to a meeting to debate, but not a word to me, well i know where i stand.

First, Billie, I have nothing to do with the meeting. In fact I'm trying to get on the panel myself. And if I do get on the panel I will be happy that it's Mrs. Gillman up there instead of you, as your point of view is at least plenty more realistic than her statements in public. This is a compliment to you, my dear.
Onto the inland port thingy. It's actually going to be a department report at tomorrow's city council meeting. I have the presentation file from 2005 and will email it off to you.
I'll simply say that it my understanding that this has sat on a certain desk at the city complex for a mighty long time as well. This is something that could lead to good paying jobs in the area (my guess it is if Kingman area is selected the site goes in somewhere on the I-40 corridor near the train tracks).
I'm talking federal government jobs, good paying stevedoring jobs, management jobs... and of course more warehousing and transportation jobs.
A very well respected Member of the Association I belong to said that this report should have been forwarded by now and if it had, Congress could have approved it by now (again if selected).
I know I'm hanging around for this item on the agenda.
I hope this helps.
