Todd,
I agree. There needs to be an easier way for people to get wind power going in this town. For God's sake, I have never lived in a place where wind power made more common sense than Kingman....
As for the VERY LAME excuse about them being a "blight"...I have a news flash for your readers.....
1) Kingman has MUCH LARGER PROBLEMS regarding blight. Take a look around. I would love for the City of Kingman to spend their time, energy, and concern on the many homes that are violating our city's codes. Get the junk cars and trash out of the yards, then our city's leaders would have a leg to stand on when no approving windmills.
2) Power poles. They are everywhere. And not just the poles, the wires are ugly as hell.
3) Smog. If people generated enough clean energy, we would all breath a lot better.
4) With oil over $125 a barrel and moving higher, I think that our city and our country has much larger and important issues at hand other than "blight".

LMAO about windmills being a blight. Just drive by some neighborhoods in Kingman city limits who have cars parked by the front door. There's no yard I guess. Weeds, trash, unwanted junk is what you will see in a lot of yards in Kingman city limits.
How about my neighbor who deals with dirty diapers in his other neighbor's yard???
Those windmills will cause such blite in Kingman....sheesh!!!

As you know, I said my piece to Council a few months back. Mayor Byram felt that residential windgenerators were not something the city needed to worry about at this time.
Unless we, the public, demand that the City administration (council and staff) review the issues prohibiting wind generators for height allowances in some areas and zones, yet permit them in others, we are going to have anothe tangled mess bureaucracy.
Gary Jeppson has been trying to gather information to include in a study, but he hasn't completed the study (to my knowledge),nor has one been presented to council.
After spending a week in Washington D.C., (gathered lots of good data), not only is Kingman and Mohave County behind, but the State is lagging behind the rest of the country in utilization of this technology.
