"THINK, LISTEN AND LEARN", in my opinion, the most profound of all of Mr. Nugents comments.

Will Craig Schritter have to abstain from all votes on Rattlesnake? What is the point of putting in such a self serving person?

Good question!
Also, in my opinion, it is not even when there are direct family ties for conflict of interest. There are many conflicts with the "good ole boys" that have nothing to do with family.
This is why we either 1) need people that are relatively new to this town without all the good ole boy baggage, or 2) someone that is successful in their own right and will not be influence by these folks.

Dan,
That is a valid question.
So far, by observing his interaction with known good ole boys, it cerntainly appears that there are differences of opinion. They do not seem to be best of friends so far....
However, I do realize that this is a double edged sword. I really want a "powerful, experienced, and skillful" person that can handle the development challenges Kingman faces to be our next mayor. Who better understands development issues than a developer with +30 years of experience???
But, with that experience comes the fact that Mr. Nugent has interacted or even worked with many of the good ole boys in the past.
However, I did not see Mr. Nugent up at city council meetings in the last few years screaming at council. I did not seem Mr. Nugent joining RAID. I did not see Mr. Nugent suing the city. I did not see Mr. Nugent organizing re-calls. I did not see Mr. Nugent putting up signs all around town.
In the end, the most important issue of me is a simple one. I want a mayor and city council that puts KINGMAN's INTERESTS ahead of personal or crony's interests.
I am here to tell you and other Kingman residents that many past decisions in this city have been made to benefit the pockets of a very few, and often at the cost of the community at large. And honestly, I am hoping that Mr. Nugent is true to his word. He does not "need" to be mayor, and I hope he is doing this to help the city that has given so much to him over the years.
The debate will be who is best suited to look after the community's interest and has the skill and power not to be pushed around (or improperly influenced) by a few special interests in this town.
PS Dan. So who are you?

I think Mr. Nugent does have ties to the good ole boys. He certainly is friends with at least one I know of. And the good ole boy I know endorses him fully. Mr. Nugent is not open about his affiliations. Maybe there was a reason for that?
I'm not picking on him. I'm interested to hear what all of them have to say.

I tend to agree with Anonymous.
Ken it kind of sounds like you're saying Mr. Nugent is a GOOD good ole boy. I don't really see any distinction Ken.
I do see that many things that have occurred recently and that are of much controversy are direct benefits to Mr. Nugent. take the Airway underpass for instance, that's a direct line to his residnetial lots and to the land he sold Vanderbilt. I have a hunch that land sale lined his pockets pretty well.
And it sure seems like a KC interchange would certainly increase the value of his thousand residential lots at KC.

Dan,
I agree that Mr. Nugent clearly has many contacts with the good ole boys and has vested interests near Kingman Crossing with his residential lots.
However, in the end, the differnce between a "non-good-ole-boy" and the file and rank good ole boy is very simple.... Do you do what is in the best interst of the city at large, or do you do want is in yours or your friends best interest. Period.
I want leadership that is putting the people of Kingman first. The good ole boys had their way with this town for way too long. The people of this town need to stand up and elect a strong leader that will put the city's interest first AND have the ability and experience to be effective.
I could be wrong (and I will admit if I am some day), but of the 3 candidates running for mayor, it appears that Mr. Nugent is the only one that can do what I am suggesting, and I he is "strong enough" not to pushed around.
Just one man's opinion....

So what do you know of that Mr. Nugent has done in the best interest of the City rather than line his own pocket?
I could be wrong and you could easily check into this but i don't think Mr. Nugent has even been a registered voter in this community for years (i.e. more than 10 years) and I heard he only registered right before he decided to run for mayor. That just doesn't seem right does it.

I believe anyone should have the right to register or not register based on how much they want to be part of improving government.
I think making light of his lack of registration is a moot point imho.

Dan,
First of all, let me give you a compliment. I very much enjoy this conversation with you. So far, it is objective and reasonible.
To respond to your last comment, I myself have only been in Kingman for 3 years. I don't know what is with this attitude in this town. You don't need 5 generations of family behind you to run for office or hold power. This is a typcial why that the good ole boys think which is flawed.
If you moved to my home town, you would every rigth to run for mayor or any other political office.
Again, I am not saying that Mr. Nugent is "perfect", and I don't know enough about the candidates yet to make a final personal decision. However at this point, I like him the best.
Do you have any information or background on Mr. Nugent that indicates he not put the city of kingman's intersts first? If so, I would like to hear your view point.

You could take the same arguments "Dan" makes against Nugent and apply them to at least one other candidate (running for city council).
As for Mr. Nugent's voter registration status, I agree with Anonymous...its moot.
