My feeling is that all this will do is make Zillow appear to be even more credible than it is in the minds of the public.
The man on the street thinking could be summarized as...
"If appraisers want them silenced, it must be because its an actual threat to them. It must be good then. Right?"
I'll agree, and it will bite us as Realtors also in the buttocks in the court of public opinion.
With my role in leadership in the Realtor community, I am making very clear that now is the only time we have left to partner with the likes of Zillow and others. They are proving that they can bring buyers to their websites, and sellers won't be that far behind.
The Zillow brand has become much more exciting of a product to Realtors in my opinion in recent times. They seem to be building their services with us in mind... for now...
