Gravatar Todd,

I agree. There needs to be "planning" for Kingman to proper moving forward and attracting the development needed in Kingman.

I would like to tie in an important point. "Who" does the city need to talk and plan with?

The obvious answer is the citzens and voters of Kingman, because they shape the way the city grows.

But, there also MUST BE planning with the people/companies that will fund and PAY FOR the new development.

For some reason, there seems to be a view in this town that planning and talking to investors/developers is "wrong". Nothing could be farther from the truth.

These investors and developers own the land, have the money, and the vision of how they see their projects developing. We (as a city and its elected leaders) must opening engage these developers and work together.

Otherwise, you get a very mixed bag of results.

On a positive note, I am very impressed with Medcath and the way this company engaged this city. They have been very open, held public meetings, and clearly worked hard to become a friend to this community. I think that Medcath has shown "how to do it right", and I would love to see the City of Kingman work with both small and large companies in this way.

Gravatar Another suggestion....Maybe CIVIC could create work towards having a good portion of its meetings dedicated to new businesses (small and large) as a forum for the people of Kingman and our elected officals to learn about new/proposed projects.

Instead of the limited time at city council and P&Z meetings, CIVIC could dedictate a portion of its meeting time for new businesses to provide presentations and accept questions from the public and elected officials.

Again, I think that both small and large businesses coming to Kingman would benefit from such an organized venue to promote and talk about their business and how it will impact Kingman.
