I totally agree with them. I have been saying this very thing. Selling 1 or 2 houses a year (at least in my area) does not even pay your basic expenses to be in business. Why they stay on is something I will never understand. But these agents are not doing enough transactions to know what they are doing. It hurts the entire industry when unsuspecting buyers and sellers run into them.

Yes Karen it does affect the clients, and I'm always clinet centric.
However, the agents are unsuspecting as well... and they are affected by the brokers. No, not all the brokers but we all know who we are talking about.
Make sure you check out Greg Swann's writings on this very subject, he is putting it in words much better than I am.

I am a member of MAR. I think our industry has a way of weeding people out when there are too many agents. Some quit. There is no great crisis here just an over reaction to a shifting market.

This is our career of choice yes....we sell people's most valuable asset and we sell it to someone who may or may not even be in the home ownership ladder........we have a certain responsibilty to our clients.....this is more than a time share, a golf membership or anything else, this directly effects each of our clients whether they are spending their first disposable income or their retirement income....we have a responsibility, and if we took it seriously, all of us brokers included we as a whole as real estate agents would have a better 'picture, view, relationship, overall appearance to potential clients' than we do now.......we would not need to market ourselves as much if we as a whole did our jobs well. In my humble opinion.
