I'll admit I haven't looked into the feature set in FM 8 too much. Sounds hefty! I look forward to reading more about it, but won't be making a leap to purchase it just yet... I need to see how/when Quadralay will respond to the release with an update, and evaluate whether FM makes sense going forward with a DITA migration. Speaking of which, have the bugs been worked out since the 7.2 beta of the DITA pack? FM 7.2 was hosing the XML-based comments and other metadata from our test files.
