I love onions and potatoes, so this is a perfect dish to make for me. I love the fact that I am not the only one whose crust doesn't always turn out as wonderful as it should. Yes, some of us call them pie pans, or pie tins (if the are metal) or some call them pie plates. I think it depends on where you live in the USA. But who cares because this is a perfect winter comfort food. We are finally going to dip down below 70 today into the 50s. I might be able to get some wood for the fire soon. Yeah!

Vickie-" doesn't always turn out so wonderful" does not apply to me, it is "NEVER turns out" and basta! But with this version i always succeed...

Alanna-Tack for your encouragenment! I have actually used it once in a sweet thing I made, it was like little pies with home-made jam and it was nice! I just didn't salt it and the sweetness of the potatoes was enough. But I think that I will try to put some sugar in the dough and see what happens!!

Oh, I absolutely love onions - and savory pies. I've never thought of putting potatoes in a pie crust - nor have I ever tried to make my own, but since you know how well I cook (especially potato encrusted halibut) then I think your pie crust is a recipe for me!

This looks and sounds delicious! It looks as though your onions are small - could you guess at the total weight? How deep should they be when you put them in the pie?

Cathy-some were big and some were small, I would guess that the onions weigh about one kilo.
