I looked for the longest time for the ultimate black bean soup. Once I found it, a Laurie Colwin recipe, I called it "at last" black bean soup! This might be richer than you're seeking but might the spice mix might provide some new ideas? It's the broccoli cheddar soup I tried last fall. If it weren't so hot here, I'd be making it again since I have a gorgeous head of home-grown broccoli in the frig.
