Lucullian delights

Gravatar Great! I am definitely going to do this and come up with my "This Year I Dare" list!!

What about a buttery croissant for #5?

Gravatar I adore panna cotta, and though I don't drink coffee, I'll definetely have to give this a try! Beautiful work

Gravatar Man, does that look good! Is everything you do look this beautiful? Do you bake bread? That might be your 5th dare, some type of bread. Good luck!

Gravatar You must cook scallops. They're heavenly. I don't know if I cooked any of the things I was going to try!

Gravatar There are so many things I'd like to try this year! Dallaspulla (Finnish sweet roll) is one of them...and my grandmother's bread pudding, and roast duck, something in the pressure cooker my mother-in-law gave me, Kabsa (Saudi lamb stew), a layer cake, challah, the perfect adobo, ack! Thanks for the reminder...I'm actually even more excited now!

Gravatar I too have a list of intentions and one of them is a Panna Cota - so why not this one it looks delish thanks

Gravatar I love panna cotta. Was introduced to it a year or so ago at a cooking class I attended, with demonstrations by Joanne Weir, a California chef/author who specializes in fresh, Mediterranean type foods. I'll make this - for sure - with decaf espresso (even in a dessert the coffee would keep me awake that night). I have a question though - how many ramekins does it make? I need to look up conversions for deciliters to figure out what kind of quantity we're talking about.

I so enjoy your lovely photographs. Thanks for all the effort you put into bringing your village and other destinations alive for all of us in cyberland.

Gravatar It looks so creamy and yummy! I like your chocolate decoration =)

I have to agree with Kalyn - scallops are heavenly and you must try them!

Gravatar Gelatine leaves are an enemy, even if unknown because I don't even consider trying a recipe with them in it. Now you might change this. I'll pull my act together and check off one item off my dare-to-do list! Thanks for the inspiration!

Gravatar Ah, yum! We've had difficulty with panna cotta cuz gelatin leaves are hard to come by stateside, and the powdered version seems stronger, so you have to tinker with the measurements. Otherwise you end up with rubbery hockey pucks. Not yum.

Gravatar So you're asking me to name the new things I'm going to try this year. I like this Dare idea. I just don't have a list. I'll have to consider this.

Gravatar I love your list of dares! Can't wait to hear your updates as you go throughout the year.

BTW - Congrats on the food blog award nomination!

Gravatar Sara-Great I'm looking forward to that! And I'll consider the croissant!

Ellie-Thanks! And I can't stand coffee with sugar in it but here it's ok...

Sally-Thanks! Yes I do bake a lot of bread so that's off! but thanks any way!

Kalyn-I will, this year is going to be my scallop year!

Joey-now I'm really curious to see what you are going to cook this year!

doodles-great!

carolyn T-Thanks for bring my attention to the fact that I completely forgot to convert the recipe, I've done that now. And thanks for your nice words!

Lisa-Thanks! I will scallop this year, I promise!

Eszter-and your food blog???????

Sean-In Sweden we use gelatin in powder but here's it's all in leaves. So I have both varieties but I have never really understood how they correspond measure wise...

Tanna-I'm looking forward to your list!

Kristen-Thanks and thanks for the congrats!

Gravatar I've never tried a panna cotta, but this looks like something I could do.
It is my husbands birthday today. I already made him a creamcake which he took with him to work for his colleagues to enjoy. May be I should try this for dessert.

Gravatar This sound great dear Ilva.. ;-D
I'm dare many thing for this new year... Grazie per l'idea!
Bacioni
And happy and sweetie new year!

Gravatar Wonderful, wonderful presentation. For those of you looking for a non coffee version you might try frangelico(hazelnut). Up here in Piemonte, nocino(walnut liqueur) is popular, but hard to come by in the states.

Gravatar Hi Ilva. Yesterday I was busy in the kitchen, and among the things I made was Panne Cotta al Caffe and Focaccia Dolce con Mandorle - using your recipes. Tasted perfect.
I made a blog about it and linked to your site.

Thanks again for all the wonderful food, writing and images you are sharing.

Gravatar I think you meant to type 'sharp knife' instead of 'sharp nice'. Happy New Year!

Gravatar Britt-Arnhild-Thanks for the honour of 'participating' in the celebrations! I'm happy you liked them!

Gourmet-To you too! I'm looking forward to your list!

Pasticciera-Thanks! maybe I should try that version?!

Pene-What would I do without you?? Thanks!

Gravatar Great list. Here's what I'll try to achieve this year:

Gravatar Honeybee-Thanks! I'm off to check it out!

Gravatar So, Ilva - how are you doing with your This Year I Dear list? I managed to tick of osso buco recently, but there's still quite a few I have to 'do' during the next few months..
