Oh Ilva you are much too hard on yourself! They look beautiful (and I'm sure they would have even without your daughter), and you actually could have the icing on them which I think makes a big difference in the way they look. That is so much fun that you bake with Karen and Tanna too.

Ilva - I love the photo with your daughter's hand - such beautiful cinnamon rolls! Cinnamon rolls (kaneelirullid) are a 'national bun' here in Estonia, too, so I decided to try sticky buns instead, as I've never made them before. But I'm doing the same thing as you last month - it's just after noon here, and my buns have been rolled and are now proving - so I'm daring baking real-time, so to say

They look beautful. You must have had so much fun baking them online with Karen. And with your daughter!
Once, when I was little, my mother wasn't happy with the look of a cake she had made for her guests so she told them that I had baked it Their compliments didn't end.
I agree that these were a bit dry and far from our Swedish cinnamon buns

Owww! Gorgeous pictures, and the one with your daughters hands make me long for a 5-yr old to cuddle....
Haven't even begun writing my post. Vow that yours is the only one I look at. First have to finish mine!
Thanks for the kind words, I cringed every time I caught a glimpse of myself in that webcam! Loved baking with the two of you again!

Love that photo with a little hand holding the cinnamon roll. My mother used to make bread 3-4 times a week (by hand!) She would always save some of the regular bread dough and make it into cinnamon rolls, so I have a lot of memories of them.
Very fun reading how you, Tanna, and Karen are doing the challenges together.

The pictures are truly mouth-watering, Ilva! And I do actually agree with you about the slight dryness of the plain cinnamon buns, but Iīm thinking underbaking them a bit could help or using a more humid filling, but I think itīs mainly because it doesnīt have as much butter as other bun recipes have. Thatīs exactly why I liked the sticky bun variety better. Of course, my hips cried slightly, but I just told them to shut the #*## up!

Yes, my niece has just introduced me to iChat and I can see my sister when we talk which is nice, so your experience with fellow DB'ers sounds so fun. How can you be busy and a bit lazy at the same time? No way! Excellent post -- I really enjoyed it.

Ilva - What a gorgeous result, but that is to be expected given your proclivity to showcasing beautiful things. I love the texture of your buns. I am, additionally, really intrigued by your bay leaf and sugar filling. And what is your "usual" recipe for cinnamon buns? Are you going to make them on Swedish Cinnamon Bun Day on 4 October?

I beg to differ on your opinion of your daring baker photography; in the early months your photographs and Ivonne's made me want to be a DB, while simultaneously convincing me I wasn't worthy.
And I love that you and Tanna and Karen bridged continents and oceans to bake together. Somewhere in the universe my grandmothers are smiling -- they both believed in camaraderie built in the kitchen like a good sauce, a good stew, a fresh loaf of bread and a flaky pastry.
