Hi Ilva
That cake looks lovely and moist. I don't do much baking but i'm sure I can get Mikey to bake it for me before the weather gets too hot (25c today and its still technically winter). I'm not looking forward to summer.

Now that looks plenty much good.
Sounds like a delightful lunch.
You call it suffering, I may have thought it more a longing. Time gives it some ease somehow. I think it's become part of who I am, somehow part of loving my mom.

Oh, Ilva, as always your posts are so touching. And, again, you turn something bitter into something sweet. Remember that you are not "moving on" away from your dad only from the pain and suffering. Your dad and your memories will always be with you. And what better way to move on than celebrate life! Sharing food, wine and conversation with others is so healing and healthy. Oh, and thanks for that recipe. Since I don't have a sweet tooth, it sounds perfect for me.

Ilva, I love the addition of pine nuts. Guilt is such a useless emotion when you can't do anything to change a matter, eh? Your dad would want you to move forward.Having company over is a good start.

Salivating over here! I love chocolate and whiskey (more specifically, bourbon) and the pine nuts sound like the perfect complement!

Beautiful post. I'm so happy to hear you feel ready to move on. Grief over any kind of loss can be paralyzing, and I can't even imagine how it feels to lose a parent.
I'm off to the US tomorrow but I'll have to try the cake when I come back. I love cakes that are not very sweet, and this one sounds and looks absolutely delicious.

aagje-probably too sweet for you!
Paul-make him bake! Well I'm not looking forward to winter, I can tell you that but fortunately there will probably be a splendid autumn in between!
Meeta-thanks! x
Tanna-I don't long for my father, I miss him a lot but he's gone and I know I will never ever be able to see him again so I don't long for him because I don't function that way. Maybe that's why I have been suffering...
breadchick-he he!
Jeni-Thank you, it true! hugs!
Patricia-Thank you!
Maryanne-yes, I'm moving forwards into a lunch crowd! Without guilt!
Deborah-Thanks!
sean- Thanks! I think bourbon should be good, I use Irish whisky and I think the cake would be even better with a stronger whisky taste!
Lorraine-thanks a lot!
valentina-Thank you!
