Lucullian delights

Gravatar "I begin to think that we need to move"

Oh dear, the horror!
I shall never move again.
That's at least one year of your life.
Make that two.
:-(

I am eating basically roasted vegetables since I've come back from Italy, everybody is somewhere else, I am the Queen of my kitchen, so I fill one baking try with zucchini, the other with melanzani, the other with Treviso radiccio, roast them and stash them in the fridge for hunger attacks (I gained 3-4 pounds in Italy, what with all those morning croissants, so it's good for me, too!). I do have some quinoa somewhere, though. Maybe I force myself to cook it? If I find time before siesta comes around (we got 34° already!).
Lazy summer greetings
(and so good to know there are three more seasons, Ilva, really made my day, being reminded of that, mille grazie! *g*) from

Gravatar Ooow, what a lovely, lovely glass! Covet Covet...really stunning!

(I feel I have to say something about the recipe as well because it looks sooo good but I'm a bit hesitant about the texture? I am imagining gritty bites but that's just me right?) Sorry! lol

Gravatar Merisi-I know but I never ever lived so long in a place as I have lived here so I'm almost getting a bit impatient despite all the job. The reduction of unnecessary things IS a positive aspect though...

Baking Soda-It is pretty, isn't it? And no, I liked the texture, the radishes and the ginger are crunchy and the rest is softish. It's a matter of taste I suppose!

Gravatar My motto is, "if I can't eat it, wear it or screw it and if I don't absolutely love it, to the point where my life would be diminished without it, then it's OUTTA HERE!!" Works for me (grins).

Gravatar I really should use more radishes! Like the Quinoa.
So why can't we throw things away if we pretend we're going to move. I often attach a room with the question "What's here that I wouldn't want to pack if I were moving." I know I hoard and I seem unable to do anything for myself. I do think moving is a great idea.

Gravatar Its really hot here in Georgia as well, and salads always seem to beckon in this type of weather. I've never used quinoa, so I'm intrigued, and will add it to my grocery list for certain. This looks so pretty too.

Gravatar Ilva the best way to purge yourself of stuff is to act like you are moving every five years. I do it and it works, well not now since we are in the RV.

Radishes and ginger sound like a good combination.

Gravatar I tried quinoa for the first time this weekend (I had it sitting in the cupboard for over a year) after seeing both your effort and one on Chocolate and Zucchini. My first go was a very approximate recipe attempt which suits me fine, but I didn't feel like I uncovered the secret to quinoa yet. Maybe next time...

Gravatar I'm a hoarder, too! But I am developing a real hatred of dusting so I think I'm getting close to a serious 'throwing' session. I know it will take me days, though. Just going through the paperback books... I have 3 floor-to-ceiling bookshelves of them..I might read them again...
I'll come oversee your cleaning-out if you'll do mine LOL

Love the salad! I'm starting to use quinoa a lot. I would like it with barley as well, but not for mon mari!

Gravatar I have had such a hard time finding quinoa, but finally found some this weekend and I am so excited to use it! Your salad looks wonderful!

Gravatar It is so good to be back in my own kitchen again, though I already miss Italy terrible.
I am back to work again, and my husband still has a week of, so I came home to a ready dinner table today. I feel spoiled

But my herbgarden looks great and I can't wait to start using the herbs there.

One question - what is quinoa?

Gravatar Hi
What a pretty salad.
I thought you had photographed a box of little jewels. I haven't cooked with quinoa yet. I guess it is good for our celiac or wheat intolerant friends.

Gravatar Sally-that's an interesting approach (especially the screwing part of it)

Tanna-I'll try the mild approach, otherwise we just have to move. Who knows where though...

Belinda-thanks! Quinoa is one of those things that people often either love or hate!

doodles-so I just have to pretend that we are moving? And it works? I better try it!

annemarie-I didn't like it that much in the beginning but now I do! so work on it!

Katie-IT'S A DEAL! I'm sorry for you but I'm happy to hear that there are other hoarders out there...

Deborah-Good luck with it! I hope you will like it.

Britt-Arnhild- I'm happy you had a nice time in Italy! Soon it's my turn to go north instead!
For the quinoa, check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinoa

gilli-Thanks! It's perfect for them!
