Lucullian delights

Gravatar The summer before last I made a peach and sparkling wine risotto which was surprisingly very good. It did take two attempts to get the flavours right though..The first attempt was a bit strange to say the least..Neither sweet nor savoury..very weird. I'm glad I percervered with the second attempt because it was a good lesson in flavour balancing..X

Gravatar Does sound odd (as does Paul's) but it's intriguing as the same time and I'll believe you it's good. I'd be delighted to try it. When do I come?

Gravatar The kids had their first risotto a while ago and they keep asking me to make it. I have some wonderful balsamic syrup which would go great with this I think.

Gravatar Sounds like a breakfast...

Gravatar Hi all - occasional lurker and poster here - had to comment on the strawberry rice deal. Recently I was looking for stuff to saute up with my already cooked jasmine rice, and found some fresh, sweet strawberries and some celery in the fridge - chopped a little onion, sauteed the onion and celery in olive oil, added some garlic, the cooked rice, the strawberries and a splash of Braggs liquid aminos. Very great combination, the strawberries and the celery. Good enough that I'm still thinking about it, and confessing my melange-ing tendencies here! Thanks for listening. Larry

Gravatar Strawberries with balsamic and sugar is one of my favorite desserts, so I can imagine that this might taste interesting.

Gravatar Paul-That sounds good, did you blog about that? I have to try it!

tanna-whenever but it has to be during the strawberry season, what about sometime next week?

Karen-yes, I'm sure!

Hank-oh you convinced carnivores! Breakfast pfhew!

Larry- Thanks, I will try that, I have both at home!

Lydia-It is surprisingly good, I was really not sure about before making it!

Gravatar OK, as for new ingredients to add to the list, I am suggesting: Lamb shanks, fresh favas, artichokes, green garlic and English peas.

Gravatar Intriguing. I've always been a fan of eating sweet and savoury stuff together so I really should try this...
