Lucullian delights

Gravatar I know, there are so many events now in the blogosphere....how do you choose? Also, more than anything it usually comes down to what my schedule's like right before the deadline!

Gravatar Ilva, don't cancel the event. It's one of (a very few) good ones. I've been wanting to participate since you started it again, but somehow, there were always the ingredients difficult or impossible to find here in Serbia.

Gravatar Hi Ilva ... It's true there are lots of events, some are fun (Paper Chef) and some are serious (Daring Bakers - would YOU want to come between a girl and her baking??) and some are informative (HotM) ... and they all have a place.

Last month, I got overtaken by events and didn't take part; this month I balked at the ingredients, I didn't think I could possibly manage to make anything anyone would want to eat.

Must try harder, must try harder, must try harder ... WILL try harder

x Joanna

Gravatar I've been on the sidelines enjoying the entries. I alway have a wonderful time jostling for the Paper Chef crown. I must make an effort next time round. Thanks for keeping it going.

Gravatar I don't remember seeing anything about it since the first one or two?

I'm sure it's disappointing to you. In fact, Owen abused Paper Chef for too long, so you mustn't feel responsible if it doesn't last.

And right now there is no good way to find out about events easily. IMBB is screwy, no longer just events. I've worked hard to keep up with what events are happening when and it's just gotten too hard, not because there are too many but because there's no good way to follow them without a LOT of work.

Funnily enough, it's the ones that are on regular/frequent schedules, Weekend Herb Blogging, Pasta something, that seem to get the most entries anymore.

Gravatar I really like the concept of this event... and would like it to see it continue. I will say honestly that I don't participate very often because I find the duration between the ingredient announcement and deadline just too short. Maybe if you made it longer? I know I need more time to mull over the possibilities... and then to gather ingredients... and then to fit the preparation into a calendar already full of other items.

I also agree with Alanna about the difficulty with keeping up with events in general. I always have a terrible time finding the current SHF, for example.

Gravatar There are so many events out there and we have best intentions to participate. But time slips away. I just hosted my first and had a small turnout. I'm not giving up however because it was a learning experince on so many levels. I had to remember I did the event for my pleasure, and thats what I got out of it.So I hope you keep it up and perhaps I can participate.

Gravatar BTW. I can post the next one on the new Daring Bakers Forum.Just let me know.cococooks[at]hotmail[DOT]com.

Gravatar I do hope it continues. I like the idea of challenging myself with ingredients I wouldn't necessarily think of together.

Well, it's just you and me, Ilva. Hope it doesn't get too ugly!

P.S. Regarding flaws, there are too many to count.

Gravatar I really wanted to do this one but with travel for the new baby there was not way to make it happen. I'll do my very best to come through for you this time.

Gravatar Thanks a lot for your positive response, I have answered in today's post!

Gravatar I do hope you keep this going. I found out about it about 10 minutes ago from looking at Hank's announcment of the winner.

It is an ingrediant thing and a time thing. It is spring and I garden. I also have to drive 900 miles each of the last two weekends of May.

Gravatar ntsc-I will keep it up if there are people participating! So go for it!

Gravatar I also hope Paper Chef lives on... it's a great and challenging event!

Gravatar I like the idea... And I've wanted to participate a few times, but I either have already done the shopping or couldn't find whatever...
And I don't leave near enough to civilization to 'run to the store'...
Maybe in my next house!
