Gravatar Those look great!! I am not a fan of traditional Baci da Dama but I think a chocolate cookie would make them great!!

Gravatar I've thought of making these cookies before, but they always seemd so labor intensive. Now, reading your comments that they were simple to make, plus seeing the pictures, makes me realize I should try this recipe ASAP!!

Gravatar Just gorgeous! The photos are lovely and I really wish I could just pick one of those cookies off of my screen and pop it in my mouth!! I'm glad to hear it wasn't hard to make them... I might try them soon...

Gravatar Very lush, very luscious! The color on those is incredible. Can't wait to find out how they taste...

Gravatar The photos are amazing. From the recipe I'm betting the cookies are too and I will definitely have to make these...from the way this contest is going I see that dieting is not going to be in my immediate future. I'll be in the kitchen if you need me!

Gravatar those look delicious! the recipe doesn't sound too hard either =) thanks!

Gravatar My mouth is watering...wishing I were home baking cookies. Looks like it would be easy and delicious to make.

Gravatar I haven't had lunch yet and these cookies are just leaping off the page at me. Lovely!

Gravatar i have made gina's cookie sans the filling, but since i have a bottle of grappa just begging to be used, i think i will do the entire thing in my christmas cookie baking. beautiful photos!

Gravatar Beautiful cookies and again pictures! I think I will try these for Christmas.

Gravatar Gorgeous cookies, and the pic really shows them off! Imagine gifting these in purple packaging? Can't wait to try!

Gravatar thanks for the metric conversion--that is really the way to bake!
Beth

Gravatar I think these would make perfect holiday gifts and plan on trying them this weekend!

Gravatar These cookies look absolutely delicious. Those pictures are making my mouth water.

Gravatar sinful treats Ilva! These look amazing. The funny thing is I am making something similar with Soeren - but a slightly different flavor. But ooohhh the goodnes of chocolate.

Gravatar I can't believe that I grew up with an Italian Grandmother that baked all the traditional southern Italian dolce and didn't get any recipes. These look great ... if I don't win the book I will definitely buy 2. One for me and one for my sister.

Gravatar wow the photos are gorgeous and they just look amazing. I have enjoyed them bought but never made them myself. Maybe I should try.....

Gravatar My husband made some cookies similar to these once, although bigger, and they were great. Hopefully I can convince him to try these also.

Gravatar these look lovely - i know what i'm making for our next treat!!

Gravatar these look absolutely delicious. not to mention, your photos are always excellent.

Gravatar You can never go wrong with chocolate. They look delicious and easy to make.

Gravatar Ilva, may I enter the Dolce Italiano contest too? I've been reading your blog for some months, and I'm ashamed that I'm only now responding. (There's no honor in "lurking," is there?) Anyway, I discovered your blog while googling--I wanted to find a recipe for a cake made with chocolate and quinoa (two of my favorite ingredients). I admire your culinary creativity and the composition and colors of your photography (not to mention your being able to keep the blog going despite the distractions of family life). I look forward to your daily postings. A comment on the baci: two sticks of butter?! No wonder they look so delectable. What would happen if the butter were replaced by tahini? I'm eager to read Ms. DePalma's new book, and to learn more about traditional Italian sweets, but, seriously, can't these recipes be made a little healthier?

Gravatar So very different from the traditional American Christmas cookies I bake and receive. It's time to shake things up. Into the recipe box you go!

Gravatar I have been eyeing this book - it really sounds like a great one!!

Gravatar I grew up near Hershey, PA so Kisses mean one thing to me. I'll have to open my mind because these look great!

Gravatar I hope mine turn out as pretty as yours... Beautiful, I'm baking them right now! (Wish you could smell...)

Gravatar Mmmmmm, we have just had dinner, and it is soon time for our afternoon coffee. Can you please blow some chocolate kisses up here

By the way, I have started a Bookcorner in my Blue Café. Every Sunday I open my blog for guestbloggers to tell about a favorite food book. May be this is something for you?

Gravatar These look like a fantastic Italian-style macaron. And your photographs of them make them look nearly irresistible. I don't know if I would have seen your blog without this cookbook connection; it's lovely.

Gravatar Gorgeous and look like they taste wonderful - contest or not, I'm enjoying all these recipes!

Gravatar oh dear god, ilva! are you trying to kill me? these look delicious!

Gravatar hmmm.....they look absolutely delicious! No wonder they are already gone!

Gravatar haha you can really tell people love chocolate! There are 40+ comments. I think they look fabulous too, Ilva

Gravatar Those cookies look so good and would make a decadent gift! Can't wait to make them. Yummm

Gravatar Those look amazing!

Gravatar There is a similar cookie called little clouds because they melt in your mouth (like I imagine clouds would if you could bite them).
I had an impulse to buy Di Palma's book the minute I saw your pictures but instead I will make the recipes you will post from the book.
I am in love with your blog; you inspired me to start my own. I made many of your recipes with great success.

Gravatar Who needs to keep them in an airtight container for three days? I can't see them lasting three hours! : )

Gravatar What utterly devastatingly devilishly good looking little morsels...........I think I wouldnt stand a chance against these particular Italians kisses. Oh my! I am swooning.......

Gravatar Oooh, sparkly! I love the sugar sprinkle on the top of the kisses. I can only begin to imagine how fabulous these cookies tasted.

Bravo!

Gravatar Geeze Louise what more could a girl ask for: chocolate between chocolate. I'll have to check out the book it you like it! That's a heavy recommendation Ilva.

Gravatar oooooooooooohhh!
I can't wait to make these.
Also thank you for the metric conversions! As an American living in Europe, who still can't figure the conversion out in my head, I appreciate this extra step! Thank you!
These are on the list for the weekend!

Gravatar Great recipe! I'm hungry already!

Gravatar I love your blog!!!!

Gravatar This is a classic cookie that is always included on an Italian cookie tray. Thanks for posting it, Ilva

Gravatar Mamma mia - these look so good and sooo cute! As a chocolaholic I will definitely have to try these and they will make perfect Xmas gifts. Thank you for posting this recipe!

Cathy

Gravatar Ilva, there is nothing like a free book to bring out the comments!! Vida x

Gravatar THESE COOKIES LOOK INCREDIBLY SCRUMPTIOUS-I'M AFRAID TO START BAKING THO BECAUSE I WOULD EAT MYSELF INTO OBLIVION.

Gravatar I'm a sucker for anything chocolate, and these look so rich and delicious. Definitely going on my "to try" list!

Gravatar Yum, yum and triple yum. Those look and read utterly gorgeously. Besides, who can resist anything chocolate - aside from vanilla!

Gravatar Dang. I have not had breakfast yet, and those look amazing! Alas, I will have to settle for oatmeal.

Gravatar Oh-my the pictures of these cookies sold me before I even read the recipe! I think a cansiter of these chocolate kisses would make my neighbor smile. Looking forward to try out the recipe. Yum.

Gravatar They are on my must make list!

Gravatar Absolutely delectable!!!!!

Gravatar As Rachel says YUM-O!

Gravatar These look divine! What a fabulous photo!

Gravatar These look delicous, I am definately trying them for my Christmas cookie collection!! Great picture!

Gravatar Your photo really caught my eye. I love purple and I love chocolate.

Gravatar They look cute and delicious!

Gravatar Ilva,

I bought the book and adore it just as much as you do. Your baci are beautiful! I'm sending you a big bacio from Toronto!

Gravatar Thanks again! I'm sure you will like them!

Ivonne-It's a treasure that cookbook, I'm very happy to have it! bacione!

Gravatar I have so found memories of my grandmother cookies. And the picture you post brought all back and very happy tears. And one thing that she always told her daughters was that "her cooking had changed forever when her brother married a italian (descendent) woman back in the 30s." Honouring her I´ll bake it today.
Thank you so much for the lovely picture.

Gravatar These look absolutely wonderful.

Gravatar To be kissed by chocolate....sigh! This cookbook sounds very special. I will have to check out the interview as well. Even if I don't win the cookbook it sounds amazing and like something I need to add to my evergrowing pile of cookbooks!

Gravatar Beautiful! Chocolate and rum? I'm there!

Gravatar Looks wonderful. Will make them next week and bring them into work for our holiday party.

Gravatar These look delectable!!! Can't wait to try them!!!

Gravatar These look so good! And the pictures are very elegant. Pretty in purple! ; )

Gravatar What cute little cookies!

Gravatar Oh my goodness- those look SO amazingly delicious! Beautiful photos, too. YUM!

Gravatar These look absolutely delicious. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to try this recipe.

Gravatar I was checking back to see how many more comments there have been and realized I didn't comment here, but only on flickr when I made the fab photo of the pile of baci a favorite. I would like to put that one on the wall!

Gravatar As always, beautiful photos! I think I'd have to put Godiva liquer in the ganache, to make it a triple-chocolate heaven-in-a-bite.

Gravatar My friends will love those when they get them as a Christmas gift!

And absolutely gorgeous photos - I love that purple & chocolate combination!

Gravatar Looks great, would looove the cookbook!!!!

Gravatar Ilva, just discovered your blog. It's soooo beautiful and cosy, the pictures and the words, really impressive!
The cookies are Too Much!

Gravatar These look too good to eat, Ilva. I'm surprised that the book doesn't have metric quantities listed as well!!

Gravatar Those cookies look so enticing and appealing. Your blog is impressive and beautiful.

Gravatar I can still taste those delicious sounding cookies in my mouth.

Gravatar That does it! I am making these today and also the Choc salami. I hope they do last for a few days since they are for a party on Sat. Maybe I will double the recipes.

Gravatar These look fantastic; and the sicillano cake as well. I don't know if I can trully eat these fabulous looking confections, but I know I will try to fix them especially around the holidays. I think I like looking at the pictures of these edible delights almost as much as eating them!! YOur blog is one of my true delights while working on this computer!

ps

Gravatar i don't know how i missed this. delicious!

paz

Gravatar yes, please add my name to the contest. every recipe looks great. thank you.

Gravatar Those are cute and tasty looking!

Gravatar Great job on those cookies! Did you notice that they didn't puff as much as the ones pictured in the book? Mine were pretty puffed until I opened the oven door to turn them around as she suggested and then they seemed to deflate a bit. But I can't skip that step because my oven has a hot spot.

Gravatar the cookies look great. i baked these the day before. used regular table salt instead of kosher. the kisses are salty...much more than a hint of salt. will halve the amount of salt the next time i make them.
