sorry you are feeling uninspired,I'm sure it is simply brain and body adjustment to the onset of winter. Curl up with a hot chocolate and this shall pass. Meanwhile I'm off to make grissini because you continue to inspire me.

Sounds healthy I ran out of food money for this month. The new month starts on the 21st so I might try this the next time I find brussel sprouts after this date!

Hey Ilva, we all have those days when we totally flatline in the kitchen. It is so difficult when you feel like this and you have to provide a meal for the family. I have been feeling so much like you are in the last little while. I have been doing a huge amount of jam, jellies and chutney for selling and also baking orders and now Christmas cake orders and when it comes time to cook I just have absolutely no desire or energy for it. So I really understand where you are at. I admire you all the more for turning out dishes like this pasta and brussel sprout one that sounds so amazing and looks wonderful in your photos. You continue to inspire even when you have no inspiration yourself. Remember to take some time out for yourself...

It won't last, Ilva. And if this is what you create when you're flat-lining, let's just say it's better than my jelly sandwiches.

it's way more inspired than heating up a vegie burger and plonking a dob of cream cheese and spicy relish on top! which i've been known to do. more than once. i love brussels sprouts and this sounds wonderful. the photo's are good, too...

I so love brussel sprouts that I'm definitely making this next week when I need to be on my post Thanksgiving gluttony diet.

Excellent, Ilva, I bought some myself and am laughing because I don't have the feeling at all that you are suffering from cook's block. Just cook what your hand finds to cook.

I have been reading your blog for quite a while now, but have never commented. You come up with some pretty fantastic photos and recipes for feeling uninspired. I love brussles sprouts and must try this recipe.

What a lovely, simple idea! (And you're right - great minds think alike!!) Your cook's block seems to be a bit more productive than mine...as this looks delcious! Don't worry, it won't last long - sometimes we all need a little break to get reinvigorated.

I get that feeling, too. First look in the fridge - full, but nothing to eat. Then the freezer, ditto. Pantry...
I usually figure that If I let myself get really, really hungry I'll think of something. Usually works!

Oh! We ate the last of the brussels sprouts from our garden in August. Never mind. I'll keep this recipe for next winter. It will be time to plant them again in a couple of months. I've never braised them, just boiled them quickly in lightly salted water. They never seem to have that bitter taste when picked fresh fom the garden. I'd never have thought of serving them in a pasta dish.

I know exactly what you mean with cook's block, I get it sometimes too, especially in the summertime when it's too hot to cook anyway.

wow, you really amaze me you know, here I am feeling so uninspired and boring and really hesitating about posting this or not and then you give me all this great response! If this doesn't inspire me I'm really in a bad shape! Thanks a lot to ALL of you, I really appreciate each and every comment but I just don't have the time to comment them one by one today, I'm so sorry!
