Reservations are 'dry', as are some counties in the West. Best to stock up when you can and keep the ice chest full. Have you had any Sam Adams beer yet? Theakston's it's not....Lots of boutique breweries all over the country. chowhounds say that in Flagstaff, the Beaver St. Brewery has the better beer, but Flagstaff Brewery has the better burgers. Would love to hear your take on American food.
yes Sue I realise now that dry means dry, but the guy at trhe store says I can get somdown the road, 40 miles away in Mexican Hat???
anyway we drove all the way to Blanding Utah the next day through Monument valley and further on beuatifull it is we got some in Mexican Hat.
The food, well we tend to like savoury stuff and some of the breakfast food is a bit sweet for our liking and bicuits and Gravy? whats that I think it would be better with mushrooms in it and some garlic but you know, we are in a foreign country and lets do what the locals do.
I think this country is great and yes if I get the chance I would live here.

I've never been able to understand Biscuits and "Gravy" either. That's not gravy (as my proper English gram taught me to make from a roast) it's fat, flour and milk. Bernaise! you are right, some seasoning is what it needs. But lucky you aren't traveling through Arkansas--they put chocolate syrup in their "gravy"!! (mostly for kids, though)
