Gravatar Good post, well researched.
I agree, awareness about the situation in dafur is really low in Africa. but, with regards to ur comment on my blog, i think the AU has done really well. Consider that this is (in other words) a union of some of the world's poorest nations and some have muslim leaders that may have similar interest with khartoum, not to mention that some have internal turbulance that may be threatening their existence.
My opinion is that it didn't take long for peace to be brokered in Lebanon, and there have been policies and threats on nuclear iran, why don't the UN at least declare a no-fly zone over sudan or place travel bans and embago on the genocide-prone khartoum government.
Sending UN troops to dafur may not solve the problem because who will do that? most countries will be reluctant to send their soldiers to Africa where they will sooner die of malaria than of enemy fire, but if the khartoum government recieves an iron hand, it will bulg.

Gravatar forwarding UN troops to dafur may not solve the problem because many countries are afraid of sending their soldiers to african because of hungry.
