Atheism is not a "philosophy" who's "foundation" is humanism. Wherever did you get that idea?
Atheism is merely a word that indicates the absence of god-belief in a human being. It is a lack of god-belief.
Humanism is an ethical system very much akin to a religion, without the god-things. One does not have to be an atheist to be a humanist.
Atheism and humanism are not synonyms. They are not interchangeable words. Atheism does not require humanism, and visa-versa.
So, a "gotcha!" pointed at humanism in an attempt to discredit atheists doesn't make any sense at all.
Good try though.

wasn't attempting to use the words interchangeably. Was attacking a specific idea. which is 'atheistic humanism'. A humanistic system in which man as the measure of all things isn't justified by being god's chosen people.
the post was also about 2k words before blogger fried as i tried to submit.

You say: "...humanism essentially replaces God with Man."
That is impossible. There is no God. One cannot replace something that does not exist.
Humanism is not a religion and does not aver that humans are gods. Humanism merely recognizes that, since there is no God, we must look to ourselves to bring love, peace and fairnes to the affairs of humans!
