It's just been a lot of change this year and it's giving me a headache.
It seems to me that the real measure of a man has nothing to do with money or position. It has to do with being able to look at yoursef in the mirror, dealing with what life throws your way the best you can, and treating yourself and the people around you with basic respect (Timmy notwithstanding). From where I sit, you're doing exactly that - which puts you quite a few rungs up on most people.
Keep doing what you're doing. Sounds to me like you don't need to explain yourself to anyone.

- anyone who says losing a job is a much-needed "Kick in the Ass" should have the pleasure of losing their own, so they can experience the accompanying anxiety, fear, and poverty/hard times. Also, they need a lesson in empathy.
