I haven't read a whole lot of the essays on this blog-type site, but I have gazed long and hard at the pretty pictures -

defectiveyeti.com. Not that he's mostly about dadblogging, but it's not all that rare. idlewords.com has a fair bit of travelblogging, but he rarely updates anymore. I'm also a big fan of oblivio.com.

Doesn't Trish Wilson do a lot about father's rights? He also might like Chez Miscarriage (sounds like a weird recommendation for a guy, but the writing is spectacular and there is a lot about parenting issues) and dooce.com (more parenting stuff, also wonderful writing). Although these last 2 might be a little girly...

Trish Wilson blogs the father's rights "movement"--i.e., the "those bitches need to be punished" folks. Probably not what your friend is looking for.
I recommend One Good Thing and Daddy Zine.

Oops! Okay, my bad - thanks, Dr. B.
I'm much better on girly blogs.

Hello,
Try this guy's memoir/blog about discovering his father in a surprising place.

memoir.html
And my friend Sutton writes cool stuff like this every so often:

sketch.html
I give these two links because they are longer, story-like posts, rather than shorty blog posts. People transitioning into blogging are often looking for real writing rather than "blogging," if you know what I mean.

thanks, everyone, for some good possibilities. the only parent-ish blogs I regularly read (aside from those of you who also happen to be parents) are One Good Thing and Mimi Smartypants -- both of which I love. So thanks for all these other ideas.
I'm not usually a blog pusher, but I just feel like he'd be a natural for this environment...

He could also try speaking as a parent, which is a London dad's blog.

bitchphd: I don't think father's rights are about bitches and punishing. It's more about challenging the heavy assumptions against men within the law surrounding family break ups.
