You sound like a really good dogmommy. Poor G! What an interesting barometer of household stress levels (even if it was good stress).

Hi Mel -- Thanks for the inadvertant dogmom tip. I'll try the chin thing next time MM gets upset. She's actually so frightened of loud noises we have to give her doggie tranquilizers during thunderstorms and loud films. She really freaked out during Master and Commander. Spouse person would like to know if your floors are wooden (I wasn't sure), because we just had wood floors put in and they need constant sweeping. The Roomba sounds great, if it won't scratch the floors.

ADM -- just try putting your chin/throat over the back of her neck -- this is what mama dogs do to puppies to discipline them and calm them -- it's a dog's most vulnerable spot, but if their leader/caredog is doing it, it's a reminder that they are being taken care of. It really helps calm G down.
And yes, we have wood floors. The Roomba is doing an amazing job -- our floors are old with lots of little cracks and crevices, and it's pulling up tons of dust and pet hair out of them. I don't think it would scratch a new floor. The 2 main wheels have tire-like rubber treads, and the little front wheel is smooth hard plastic -- it's mostly for the steering I think.

Aak, your poor doggy. Good for her to have such a good dogmommy. I'm bothered by the multitude of loud noises myself.
