Gravatar Ahhhhh...the eloquence of youth.

Gravatar Oh, definitely a compliment. A major one.

Gravatar Oh god, I get that all the time. What are they thinking when they write/say those things?

Gravatar What are they saying? "Me! MeMeMeMeMe!!!"

-Cynically yours,

Gravatar And you know this is the sort of feedback you'll treasure as opposed to the grunts and the "Hi, Professor. . . errr. . . Whatsit" as you pass them in the hallway.

Gravatar I think that this is a sincere compliment and one that should be valued. You've apparently converted an apathetic student into one with some glimmerings of enthusiasm just beginning to surface--and that is a major conversion!

Gravatar congratulations! you've turned that kid's light bulb on.

Gravatar One of my grad students told me that she really, really adored the Victorian fiction course I taught last year--it's just that she hated everything in the course. When I asked, with some bemusement, if that was a compliment, she assured me that it was.

Apparently, she's still suffering post-traumatic stress syndrome from Bleak House...

Gravatar Ah, students. I do miss this sort of thing. Bemusement is a good emotion to experience regularly.

Rana

Gravatar I'm sure the inarticulate way your student expressed it is probably just a sign of their excitement about the class, and the nervousness of talking to a prof Definately a compliment!

Gravatar It's obviously a compliment but I'm sorry, I rather hate Victorian as well.
