Mel, I'm impressed and kind of jealous that you're maintaining such a strong long-distance relationship with your best friend. A lot of my long-distance friendships have really fallen off since I moved to St. Martyr's; somehow I'm so busy and my friends are so busy--the beauty of all of us being employed!--that I'm now rarely in touch with some of the people I care about most. It makes me sad, and I'm impressed that you give these relationships the time and energy that they need and deserve.
