My good friend from college always sends pictures of with her dogs in Christmas cards (this year they have puffy reindeer horn headbands on). I love it because she was my roommate for a while and the dogs were absolutely a part of our little family.
And I love the goat! I've always wanted a sheep but never lived anywhere that would justify it...

My friend/neighbor gave me a photo of her cat last year, which is on my fridge amongst the baby photos. Why not?
If I send out New Year's cards I may include a photo of my zoo. Hmm. Could photoshop something cool to get me and the three critters all together and then play with the photo printer. Because you're so right -- families take many forms.

Glad someone else is doing late holiday cards. We always seem to miss a couple of folk, though I was tickled this year to get about half a dozen "Holiday Greetings" by e-mail on Christmas Eve from folks I had sent cards to earlier.

Love the idea of sending dog, goat, etc. pictures, and your observation that families take many forms! Tonight, I'll be raising a toast to increasingly inclusive holiday greetings.
