Great post. I've seen a few people compare Ben. Anderson's model of "imagined communities" to the emergence of blogworlds, and I think it's pretty apt.
And I'd have to say that even with a few dominant blogs that have come to represent blogging to non-bloggers, the real activity is taking place "below the radar," where all of us are writing, thinking, and linking.

Wonderful post. I wholeheartedly agree. Blogs do have the power to change the nature of shared discourse, and, in fact, there are actually lots of women political bloggers--Body and Soul, Dynamist, Making Light, Respectful of Otters, the Sideshow, Talk Left, and Wonkette immediately come to mind--and lots of people are reading them.
