I'm definitely in the process of doing this. I cleaned up two rooms this weekend, deciding to donate and sell a lot of things. The Purple Heart foundation comes on Friday to haul some of the stuff away. Some of it, I'm selling on Ebay. It definitely feels good.

I've been doing this, too. I sold FIVE grocery sacks full of books to the used book store this week. I didn't get much money for them (I probably should have just donated to the library), but it felt great to get them OUT of my house, since they reflect a part of my life that is over.
Yesterday I got rid of an entire crate of papers by filing, shredding, or recycling. With good music in the background and the cat on the bed in the office to keep me compnay, it didn't go badly. And I even found a check I needed to cash!
And now I'm looking around at more stuff I ought to get rid of. I'm taking a whole box of old dishes to school tomorrow to see if the students in one of my classes want them.
I really like the idea about our stuff reflecting our "ever-changing" selves. Nice.
