whatchutalkinbout folk?

Gravatar I'll def say a little prayer.

The good news is also, that if you get let go, GA has a pretty good unemployment program that should set you up with at least a little income and the ability to at least have temporary benefits for the time being.

It looks like you have a good handle on it. Just take your time and make smart decisions. You're off to a great start.

thanks for the heads up, la. very much appreciate you sharing your insight and knowledge. i didn't know about ga's unemployment program and hopefully, i won't have to use it. lol

Gravatar Well... I need to add one more "pro..."

You'll live closer to that crazy Jerzey Gal from Fackin Truth Blog... and oh yeah... her crazy friend BluJewel!

I do believe a door opens when another closes. I am so glad your brother added that perspective to your dilemma. I wish I could live anywhere in the country (or the world, really). I'm locked down in the area where I grew up, very close to my parents, with a fiance and two young sons.

I am actually quite excited for you!

oh my!!! we might be neighbors? now i AM getting excited! you're right, though...the door to opportunity is indeed open and i'm running through it!

Gravatar "...i'm gonna be the victor because i choose to initiate that change."

Really though.

I say go for it. I was gonna post about our convo, but decided not to. (Didn't want you busting me upside the head wit a brick, gal).

The thing here is that you have choices. And like I asked you the other day, figure out the difference between what you think you want and what you truly desire.

I have no doubt that you will figure it out. Really... You got options, and that's a good thing. Choose the best for you.

i wouldn't have busted you upside the head. i would have just cussed you out and kept it moving. LOL just kidding. you could have posted it. in the meanwhile, i'm cataloging all the info you're sending my way. thanks again for your emotional support. you're a great friend.

Gravatar P.S. I'ma miss hanging out with your ass!!!!!

yeah...that's gonna suck, cuz ain't no way your ass is coming to new york to visit. LOL

Gravatar If I had the chance to live in a brownstone FOR FREE, I would JUMP ON IT! I'm jealous! Like seriously seriously jealous. I'm saving my pennies...maybe one day that can be me. *kicking rocks*

Ironically...if I am layed off, I would probably get out of the NY/NJ area. Everything is too damn expensive.

I've lived here most of my life and I still don't get the alternate side of the street parking thing...uh reasons why I don't have a car.

I'm still pissed that you left the long term gig and this one is turning out to be a short term one. Everyone is doing more with less, but that is ridiculous!

i'm still a bit pissed about it too, primarily because my boss's poor planning led to this situation. however, i still see it as a great opportunity. i'm gonna keep it positive cuz to do otherwise would mean getting depressed and there are enough challenges, you know?

as for getting the free brownstone, i wouldn't have it if my granny hadn't passed, so it's a bittersweet thing. i'd much rather have my granny back.

Gravatar I'm going to be saying prayers for you. I know what it's like to be in
that situation...Happened to me a few years back..Luckily,I had a friend that got me a job in another department three months after my position was eliminated..Got me more money too..Grace and Mercy of God.

way to land on your feet! i'm hopeful the same will happen for me.

Gravatar I've lost a job before [due similar circumstances] so I'll definitely send up a prayer for you.

I'm a firm believer [however] in the sayin' "When one door closes, another one opens" so I'm sure things are gonna work out just fine.

That phone call from your brother is proof of that.

you're right of course. his call was right on time and i think it was the universe telling me better things are in store for me and i must remain open to the blessings.

Gravatar Hey sugarface,

What did you say was the cons again?
I'm sorry - can I have your situation? I am living in Michigan, working for the Largest HMO (Blue Care Network, part of the Legendary Blue Cross Blue Shield) whose largest groups include the (not so) Big 3 (GM FORD CHRYSLER) who are broke and laying off which means we are broke and laying off... Which is making this last year I plan to be living here in Mich hard as hell on raising my 17 year old sister I have custody of (the mom aint shit) especially if I have no job.

Yes.
That was a run on sentence.

Praise God girl. Sometimes he gotta kick you out for you to get the fuck on.

Do you know what I would give to wake up in NYC every morning?

They probably didn't even deserve you at that job.

Smile, get a bomb ass recommendation letter and stack a little paper.

Later babe!
Bam.

lol@run-on sentence. yeah, that's about right, but i luvs ya for it.

YOU'RE RIGHT. THEY DIDN'T DESERVE ME. LOL

seriously though, your words have also put things in perspective for me. there are folk out there dealing with more dire situations than i am, so i must remain grateful for the blessings i've got. time to get wha? the fuck on. YEEES.

Gravatar all i need to hear was the word FREE!!! i'd be on it.

why is family in both the pros and cons list!!! haha too funny... yet so true!
good luck!

you know how family do. i DO read your blog, remember? LOL

Gravatar You just never know why things happen or where they will lead you, but someone with your talent, drive and work ethic will not be jobless for long. Carpe diem!

It's nice to know that even with the challenges you might face, a free place in NY is a major bonus! Don't let the mice concern you. Go get these traps:

http:// www.acehardwareoutlet.com...urce=GoogleBase

They work the BEST. When I had mice, I called the exterminator and they would only guarantee no mice for 30 days. Then I tried humane traps... no luck. Then I got the metal ones.. yeah, that was gross and I snapped my fingers more times than I care to admit. These are easy set, easy to use and I have been mouse-free for more than a year.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. maybe i won't have to get a cat after all!!!

and thank you for the kind praise. your words made my day

Gravatar Whew that is rough, I got you in my prayers.

thank you, mike. um...can i pray to be bootystar for just one night? LMAO

Gravatar I've really got to make a list like this myself. I want to be out of Atlanta in 1.5 years. I have a lot to get in order to make it happen.

hey, you can always come up for a visit before you make the move!

Gravatar Hey Nikki
Remember that query, where do you wanna be in the next 5...
minutes
months
years
guys
and then some...

like the post too

yeah...i'm gonna have to create a long term list. all my lists are for the short-term.

Gravatar We have to initiate our own changes. It sucks to be caught off guard and this heffa telling you not to worry is not helping matters. I'll bet her job is safe and secure. Going back to NY is a big step but I know you can handle it. Me? I could never move back up north ... I've enjoyed mild winters for 15 years now and I'm staying! I'll send you some long drawls!

BWAAHAAHAHAAHAHA! um, and i will HAPPILY accept those drawls, do you hear me?!? HAPPILY!

as for moving back to new york, after calculating expenses, it's actually cheaper for me to live in new york than it is for me to live in atlanta. can you believe that?!? evidently i'm living too high post down here.

Gravatar Save everything.

Seems like you are debating whether to stay in GA, or not. The cost of living is definitely cheaper in ATL. I didn't run through your personal calculations.

Well, you might enjoy this here:

The 5 Most Stylish Cities in America

I will keep checking in.

the only reason it's cheaper is cuz i won't be paying rent and utilities in new york. thanks for the heads up on the link, though. good looking out

Gravatar I will mos def say a few prayers for you.

You are a smart woman. I'm sure you will make the right decision. I'm waiting for my opporunity to leave Little Rock. But with a small child and not much savings, it's hard but I know it's coming. You trying to leave ATL and I'm trying to get there. LOL

And a FREE brownstone would make the choice for me so much easier.

atlanta is a nice spot to live, no doubt. i hope you're able to get here. thanks for thinking i'm smart. i've fooled yet another person!!!

Gravatar i'm sorry to hear about the bitchassness your boss has displayed. but it sounds like everything is falling into place. i do hate you would be moving to nyc, but now i can visit there too!

your brother is right. if nothing is holding in atl, but a job. fuck that job and make a move!!!

and i've been trying to convince you to move to atlanta for how long now? LOL

oh well, you gonna have to come visit the ny! i bet your light would shine BRIGHT up there.

Gravatar I have no advice for you. But, these do seem like exciting times. I wish I had as many choices. Sometimes I feel trapped.

i felt soooooo trapped when i was married. in fact, it's the reason i didn't immediately see this as a chance to be free. it's that 'institutionalized' mentality where even when i'm out of the cell, i still think like i'm in jail.

Gravatar I see you have lots of support here, real friends who are pulling for you in thought, prayer, and in deed. I didn't read all of the comments, but just skimming through it is obvious you're loved and blessed. Amen!

I know a few things about faith in God and His plans, and I see the possibilities of what is about to happen for you. Be led, be patient, and be thankful, always. Even in uncertainty, God has your back!

Psalm 139:9-10 "If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me."

Gravatar good for you!!!

you know God has a way of working things out for his people.

Im happy for you. and all those cons can be worked out!!!

Gravatar Wow I love the way this post ended. Definitely whispering prayers for you

Gravatar i know, i know!

Gravatar When one door closes, another opens....good news! You can move anywhere in the world... I'm jealous. I feel so stuck! Praying that it all works in your favor.
