As a student of the Word I’ve encountered a major problem in that I don’t do enough devotional reading. It’s immensely important and we student/teacher types sometimes get into the habit of taking that devotional time where we can marinate in the mercies and infinite riches of God and getting up and running about looking at this passage and that and inter-connecting thoughts, and looking up the Greek or Hebrew and thinking out an outline for the best way to present our findings…

So this important part of my relationship with God is diminished by my insatiable desire to study…but we are to be like Mary, aren’t we? Sure we can fret about doing the work, there’s plenty of time for that, but sitting at the Master’s feet and letting the words soak in before the clamor of Everyday pushes into our thoughts…that time is priceless.
