I am alarmed to hear of the possible attacks too. I am an American and I am so ashamed and horrified at what our government is doing and will do in the future. There is help on the way, however; there are lots of us here in the USA who want to be friends with all of you. We cannot stand the goddamned policies of the US -- all the way from interfering by installing the Shah in 1950's, to siding with Saddam in the late 1980's, to now. We are fighting bush and the evil neo-cons, fighting tooth and nail. And we will one day overpower them and live in peace with Iran and ALL of Mesopotamia. That day will come, it is already starting right now...
This is not a comment , it is a question . Tomorrow I will attend a conference in which the Iranaian noble Prise winner -Ms.Ebadi-will give a speech on Civil Society in Islamic countries in Vienna ,Austria.
It is a very strange feeling i have about tomorrows conference , I dont know what kind of approach I should have to her lecture ,Has she really done what Iranian people expected her to do for them? Has she really acted in conformity and deserving of the nobel peace award ? How much has she contributed to the checking the human right practices in Iran ? Has she been really efficient in upholding the rights of the political prisoners in her country? please let me know your ideas about her .

Upon returning to that rarely updated website of yours, I'm very much pleased to have got a chance to meet you again.
I also remember all those horrific unending warning sirens which moved people to shaky damp bleak shelters. All those screams fading out among rubbles that accompanied the shrieks of women...And having recollected those dreadful memories in such "tranquility," by and by I'm getting that sense of a probable jeopardy.
Yet, and I insist on this "yetness," to me America, given still holding to their common sense, never gets the heart to attack Iran. There are several reasons to one, which to me sounds the most basic, I should like to point.
In Iran the formula of getting attacked has a totally different response. Here no one, from any religion and race, allows any aliens, especially the US with its futile bullying towards other countries, to test her degree of imbecility. The lifeblood in Iran is so much fervent that any feasibility of frailty seems quite remote. In case one of America's "empty threats" comes true, as we have shown everywhere during our different historical eras, we are going to kick the devil out of them. And to sum this long tirade (!!) up, I know the only way to establish peace in the world is through constructive discussions over the 'issues in debate.' I hope this incoherence of jotting this off does not obfuscate my original thought!

First let me say that I am in no way a fan of President Bush, I think the American public can do better and probably will in the next election. The problem with this last election was the republican’s coward to the religious right to get the votes and this is why we are in the mess we are in now. That just goes to so you what happens when religion and politics mix, but I am sure you already know that over there. Now let me say I think the chances of us attacking your nation is very small but I don't think the US will allow Iran to build a nuclear power plant and for good reason. First, your government has publicly said that it would use a nuclear bomb against Israel (not a fan of them either) and secondly there is a greater chance that your country would sell the technology to the Bin Ladan's of this world. The possibility of disaster exist for all of is under those circumstances. Anytime you have religious extremist in control of nuclear weapons you are doomed and Iran certainly has there share of Islamist extremist, sorry but that's the truth. Thirdly, there is no reason for you to have a nuclear power plant, you have all the oil any nation could ever want so why do you need nuclear besides wanting to make a bomb, it just doesn't make sense. Lastly, the Iranian government as repeatedly lied and deceived the world on its nuclear ambitions and technology, hence that's why the are hiding it. We should be eliminating nuclear weapons across the entire world, not building new ones.
It seems that the USA has already started attacking Iran. Scott Ritter claims that the bomb attacks in a few cities that happened a few weeks ago are due to the USA supporting the MEK in Iraq.

The best way that Iranian bloggers can defend Iran from the USA attacks is by getting and distributing first-hand reports. E.g. can you get first-hand witness testimony - text - and/or photos or videos, e.g. that the bombings were done by the MEK, that the MEK are US supported? Get the first-hand evidence and then through the blog network and the rest of the internet the info can be distributed.
(BTW: To the person worried about nuclear weapons - please read about the NPT - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
Nuc...feration_Treaty - this has three pillars (1) non-proliferation, (2) disarmament by the nuclear powers and (3) the right to peaceful uses of nuclear power - you are making the racist assumption that Iran does not have the right to (3), but that religious fundamentalis governments in the USA and Israel are not obliged to (2) disarm. The only sensible implementation of the NPT is for all states to comply, without using any racist arguments. Iran *is* complying with the NPT; but USA, UK, France, Israel have continued to violate it.)

As for the US getting involved in Iranian politics I am totaly against it. I was against us going in to Iraq as well. Really, who cares that the leader of Iraq is killing his people by the hundredes of thousands, it's not our business. Same goes for Bosnia, let them all fight it out over there, it's not worth one dead US serviceman's life. Suddan, same thing, let them starve. Tsunami relief "ditto." Pakistan, the money just ended up in Arafat's pockets, that was a total waste of money. Now that I think of it, why did we ever get involved in WWII, I could be driving a German car by now.
I do not want war with Iran. I do not want ONE American to die freeing a country of cowards who choose to either flee their country and then spend years wishing they were there, or choose to live under the mullahs, too afraid to fight for their freedom from murdering facists.

After reading all of the comments on this page I find myself very saddened by the strenght of mistrust on both sides. Unfortunatly, pride, distrust and billigerence are the hallmarks of civilized man! Compared with our minor differences in our spiritual and social economic beliefs, our aggressive and destructive impulses as human beings bind us together into a brotherhood of complete and utter contempt and eventual self annialation. Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons that is obvious to all. They justify possessing such weapons as equality with the other great Monotheistic religions of the western world. Are they justified? If we look at the corrupt collonial practices over the past century of the Western alliances then it can be at least understood as legitimate. But then again, allowing non-secular governments the ability to produce such WMD's is in my view irresponsible. Anyone who believes that the next world is of greater value than this one cold be seen as suspect when they are given the opportunity to obtain nuclear bombs. (And yes I am including the current Preisdent of the United States in theis list) Yes perhaps it is unfair that the US and its Allies have nucelar weapons. Unfortunately we can not undo history, we cannot unlearn what has been learnt; Pandoras box has been opened and it is impossible to close it now. Our best hope is to limit its spread by any rational means possible. This means that countries such as India, Pakistan Iran, N. Korea and Isreal sould be forced by the international community to forever denounce thier involvement with Nuclear WMD. Perhaps later also Britain and France can also be convinced to surrender this awful technology. But NW will always be with us. Leaders of Isreal and the Middle Eastern nations, please look at the common peoples of your respective countries. The mothers and children the workers and students. Most of your peoples want to live in peace and most of all live. If you follow the path to nuclear readiness than many will perish, and thier deaths will be forever on your conscience. This is not a noble or honorable death, it will be a horror of unimaginable terror. Please I beseach you as an ordinary citizen to consider these facts before you embark on such a follish path. It is bad enough that we must live with this threat over our lives, the greatest spirtual guidence that Isalmic countries can offer is to reject this option and instead continue to persue social and economic justice with the western nations. It will take time but it is true that you will get more bees with honey than with salt.
The US would not be stupid enough to attack Iran. Iran must be freed by Iranians. It is our responsibility.

Don't believe to the USA. Their only interest in the Middle East is chaos and war so they can control the rest of the oil fields. Even the Jews are suffering from the unrest in Israel supported by America.
I think the US should give the Iranians some of its nuclear weapons and end this knit picking over there development. If you think you'd be safer then just try using them.

If Iranians don't want a war there, they need to stop their gov't from making nuclear weapons or open the site up to inspections and show the world they are peaceful and not talking about wiping a country from the face of the earth(Isreal). If the Iranian people have no control of the people that run thier country, they its quite possible you will see death and destruction by the very weapons you are trying to build! Don't blame the world for your ignorance, show you are peaceful and have humanitarian good will, not warring attitude! Or you reap what you sow!

I must speak up because you do not speak for all of us Americans. Granted, I want nothing of the sort when it comes to war in Iran, when I think of Iran, there is nothing that I can find about the people that I dislike. (except the nuts who are killing innocents in Iraq of course).
There is absolutley no interst by the American government in any oil in the Mid east. It is sad where the other half of the world gets its news from, it really is. In Iraq, the Americans have not touched one drop of Iraqi oil. That is to rebuild thier country. It is not all smoke and mirrors you guys, the truth has been staring you in the face the whole time, no matter what any biased news service tells you. Americans are good hearted people, If we werent, then we would have colonized the world by now(Something the Soviets tried but failed thanks to the US) by killing everthing in sight and building Starbucks and Walmarts everywhere. .
