I googled Ashura and found that. I was kinda surprised by the number of photos of Shia bleeding themselves.
What's the big deal with the beating yourself thing? I don't think its "barbaric". Lots of cultures and religions do things like that. Here in America people get piercings and tattoos - sometimes to the point of absurdity. Is that so different? As an outsider its just not that weird. Why be so mean about it?
If you ask me, blowing up yourself and innocent people around you in the name of religion is indescribably more barbaric than hitting yourself with a chain or a sword. Can't we focus on stopping that first?

IA, that is because anti-Shia websites (Sunni/Jewish websites) flood the internet with them...for the Jewish because of Hezbollah, for the Sunnis because they hate the momeneen & Hezbollah.
shi3a are violent by nature, they should leave iraq for peace to previal.
I agree. Many of them should leave for Iraq, and make alhamdulillah Makkah the Shi'a heartland as it should be.
