Why doesn't the Iraqi government just cut the power to Haifa, then just let Iraqi army do their thing? It would be best for everyone, no?

So many innocent people caught in the middle!
Is everyone on Haifa Street to suffer because of the actions of a minority? Are those people who are merely traveling through there to be constantly placed in danger?
I have heard so many conflicting stories coming from that area. If we let the Iraqi Army "do their thing" will they be able to differentiate between the innocent and the guilty? It's hard enough for us.
I just saw on the news the other day where one of our patrols had to evacuate someone from their home in that area because of the danger.

Whow! R u always late for the news AS? Didn't u hear Maliki say last year that he can't move not even one Iraqi battalion without asking the occupiers? Of course this without taking in consideration that all the intel apparatus is in the hands of the Am.
So u were saying?
BTW, what r the latest news from Afghanistan? Funny u always speak of Iraq & NEVER on Afghanistan. Karzai is faring that bad?

Saad, you are right. I bet as soon as America withdraws, the government will destroy the terrorists and baathists. I think America purposely doesn't deal with them, to give themselves a causus belli for interference in Iraq. This is Zalmay Khalilzad (nome de guerra 'Abu Omar') why he talks to the insurgents. The same way he differentiated between "good and bad" Taleban.
Afghanistan is doing great my friend. The prospects of terrorism ended with support of the UF. Because of its rural population, support of local leaders and mujahideen leaders, and the ethnic checks, there really isn't anything much to say. Shouldn't it be enough for you that Taleban releases their communications and videos in Arabic rather than Afghanistan's native languages Pashto or Dari? 70-80 soldiers are killed in Iraq a month, compared to that number every 2 years in Afghanistan.

AfghanShia,
Yesterday a Taliban commander said there are 2000 suicide bombers ready just for the summer alone, and he even boasted he had more men than weapons. It seems as if they are targeting the northern alliance much more than the coalition.
I mean after 6 years, dont you think something fishy is going on? Dont you think the Coalition remains in fortified bases while the Taliban control many parts of Afghanistan, especially the rural areas?
Just a question.

They can't target the "northern alliance." It took 36 hours for them to lose the entire northern half of the country, they have neither the support or the manpower to do anything significant save burn girl's schools in the southern region. None of them actually participated in the fighting against the Soviet union (they were an entire generation off), and so the Taleban was pretty much dead the day the Saudi's cut off their finances, and the Pakis stopped supporting them with military and men. During their rise to power, they didn't do very much fighting, relative to previous regimes, but always managed to buy the allegiance of key-commanders (Saudi petro dollar$, Pakistani thinking).
btw just yesterday, one of Taleban's guys-on-the-inside, Mawlawi Mohammadi who was governor of Bamiyan, was shot in the face in Kabul.

"It took 36 hours for them to lose the entire northern half of the country"
Somali taliban beat 'em by about 12 hours. But then, they declared jihad on Ethiopia 48 hours before that,so Guinness might disqualify 'em.
BTW folks,Haifa street has more shia than sunni. What I can't figure is,why so many immigrants? A million Iraqi's flee the country and Haifa street is full of immigrants. Go figure....

So many talented Iraqis all losing their lives, from sporting stars to academics, professionals and students.
The middle classes are being systematically annihilated as are all the academics and educated people.
This is part of a deliberate plan to totally destroy any vestige of Iraqi culture, identity, uniqueness and sense of nationalism.
People with skills and talents such as public administration, accountancy, pharmacy are also being killed in great numbers.
The plan is obviously to completely eradicate all these professions in order for another country to supply them by moving their own people in.
It will only be a matter of years before Iraq will be unidentifiable, its culture and heritage gone, its language dialects gone, its people exterminated or scattered to the four corner of the globe.
I can't think of any country in modern times which has experienced this...the slow, agonising, but certain death of an entire country.

Under Saddam, people who 'forget' who & what Saddam is were rewarded with everything & every priviledge u can imagine, including a flat in Haifa St. So no wonder...
Also Maury, concerning the Sunni/Shia divide, i would rather that u try not to remain addicted to the American news bulletins. Saddam never thought in terms of sectarian behaviour. He rewarded people following the political support they offered him, not their confessional behaviour.
