Sorry to hear about the diabetes but I know you'll do fine. My sil was diagnosed about a year ago and he is thin and very active. So I've tried to change some of my cooking statagies. It isn't just the sugar. It's the carbs.
Exercise is the greatest treatment for it and I don't know your build but so is weight loss.
You got this later in life. I'm sure you'll do fine.

Thank you so much for the wonderful YFC package! I had never heard of Sea Wool before and it's so soft. I can't wait to start working with it! I loved everything - thank you again!
And happy belated birthday! I'm sorry your doctor decided to get you such a lousy b-day gift, though.
I look forward to reading your blog!

Happy belated birthday!
I'm sorry to hear this news about diabetes; I know it's manageable, but I understand why you're discouraged. It can be quite a lifestyle change and that prospect is certainly daunting. take care, and let me know if you need anything!

Happy belated birthday! Don't know how I missed this post! Lovely hats! You and me both on a hat kick! They look great! Sorry to hear about the doctor's diagnosis. There are several different levels to diabetis. My step father was diagnoses several years ago now, he tests his sugar level and controls it with is diet. Anything new is always hard to wrap your brain around. You know your blog readers are always here when you need us!! Happy b-day once again!

My husband found out he was diabetic (Type 2) a few years back. It's not as scary once you learn that it can be easily managed. It does take some willpower and self-discipline to change a lifetime of bad eating and exercise habits, but it can be done. And the good thing is, you will feel so much better for doing it.
Happy belated birthday! I hope you had a great day.
Love the hats!

Happy Birthday!! I'm sorry I missed it by a bit.
The hats are beautiful! You sure get a lot done. Nice job.
Try not to worry about the diabetes. You'll be fine if you take care of yourself. Really.
Will you be seeing an endocrinologist? I see one in Dover if you need a recommendation.
Take care.

Happy Birthday Maureen!
I just love all your hats!!!
I am sorry you have diabetes.
I have it too.
I was diagnosed last year March and was depressed over it for 6 mos.
It took a long time to get adjusted to the medications. But I have to tell you I really feel so much better now.

Happy Birthday! And as for the diabetes, I'm so sorry to hear that, but with diet and exercise you can overcome it. Walking is the best medicine for it, about a mile a day at a steady pace.
Sending good thoughts your way.

First of all, Happy Birthday! Congratulations, best wishes and many more
Second, the hats are fabulous and that Spiral Rib is very nifty indeed. How wonderful for the homeless in your area, that you have such willing fingers and such a generous spirit.
Third - About the diabetes? Welcome to the club It may not be as bad as you think though you'll probably have to make some changes.
Don't be scared, and when you find yourself a little less horrified, definitely go and look up everything you can about it. Well informed is well-prepared!
Many hugs

Your hats look fantastic! I think the other free pattern was from Trek. So sorry to hear about your diabetes diagnosis but just do what the doctor recommends when you meet with him.
Happy Birthday!

The hats look fantastic! Happy Birthday. Diabetes can definitely be scary. My sister had gestational which means she'll have to watch out for it again later. Since she's had the head's up though she's had the opportunity to be proactive about it so I think that's more of a lucky thing for her.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I was diagnosed with osteopenia recently and I didn't want to look it up for awhile too, but it's definitely nice to know what you need to do to protect yourself from injuries. Good luck!
