Thunder Matt's Saloon

Hmm...

Had to look through my collection for a while... And even after that, I didn't find anything "great."

How about "I've Got a Feeling" by The Beatles? It's an "oldie," but still a good song. And it could mean "I've got a feeling about this season for the Cubs." Plus, it's not too hard to sing along to: "I've got a feeling, a feeling deep inside, oh, yeah!"

Whaddya think? Huh? Huh? (nudges with elbow)

Gravatar I can easily see two songs being a good choice. Normally the songs selected to be the theme song for world series push are very mainstream bands, and normally not very current. Here are my votes.

1) AC/DC- For those about to rock (we salute you!)
2) The Who- Baba O'Riley

Gravatar Assgoblins, what about the obvious?

AC/DC's "Thunderstruck!"

Gravatar Or AC/DC's "TNT."

Gravatar Aside from the chorus, who the hell knows what Brian Johnson is even singing? I don't think AC/DC would qualify as a good sing along song.

Gravatar Do they have to play the whole song? Probably not...but, you do get the...

" Ah, ah ah ah ah ah......THUNDAH...ah ah ah ah ah ah....THUNDA..."

That's gotta make you cream your shorts.

Gravatar Yeah, but the White Sox use "Thunderstruck" at their games. We don't want to imitate our rivals.

Gravatar I thought about AC/DC too, but a lot of their stuff is overplayed. I think Baba O'Riley would be great - but it may be a bit obscure...

What about the following staples on my house boat: Glory Days - Springsteen; Country Roads - John Denver; Come on Elieen - Dexy's Midnight Runners; Keep On Rollin - REO Speedwagon

Gravatar Prince - "Let's Go Crazy"
The Rolling Stones - "Start Me Up"
Blur - "Song 2"
Foo Fighters - "My Hero"
Fleetwood Mac - "Don't Stop"
The Doors - "Break On Through"
David Bowie - "Rebel Rebel"
Cheap Trick - "Surrender"
Beastie Boys - "Fight For Your Right"
Aerosmith - "Sweet Emotion"

Gravatar I like Song 2 and Surrender off of that list...we should put together some type of bracket - almost like the "Who's Now?" thing on ESPN except this won't suck balls.

Gravatar Eastbound and Down by Jerry Reed

Gravatar Glory Days- Springsteen
Hard to Handle- Black Crowes
Livin' On A Prayer- Bon Jovi
The Bitch is Back- Elton John
Louie Louie- The Kinks
Alright Now- Free
We're Not Gonna Take It- 80's band???
Never Been Any Reason- Head East
Whole Lotta Shaken Going On- Jerry Lee Lewis
Immigrant Song- Led Zeppelin

Gravatar "No Tears" - Scarface

Gravatar Those really are some terrible, terrible suggestions. It will be "Sweet Home Chicago". Done and done.

Gravatar We can't possibly use Thunderstruck now that the Sux have ruined it forever. Damn you, black stocking clad homos...damn you.

Gravatar Boo. I forgot to put on my suggestions that Sweet Home Chicago should be the one song that should NOT be included. The most overplayed, worn out song ever.

Gravatar "My Kind of Town" - Frank Sinatra

Gravatar Yes Jake, Sinatra's version of "Chicago" is the one I'd have to lean in favor of. Totally logical, and it would appease the beasts at the Tribune Company and FOX. Though if I really had it my way, we would somehow incorporate this:

Gravatar Sinatra would be really good...

Gravatar Don't Stop Me Now - Queen...it's over - there can be no more debate...http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=58CJih1iYC0

Gravatar yeah, I forgot about the Sinatra song. That's a good one. 'Don't Stop Me Now'. That's pretty classic too. Might skew a bit gay for the conservatives though.

Gravatar Sweet Caroline?

Gravatar Ted has proposed 'I Believe in Miracles' by Pearl Jam. I deem that fitting considering Vedder's love for the Cubs.

Gravatar Sultains of Swing?

Gravatar "Free Bird?"

Gravatar I cannot support a song by The Ramones, Ted!!

Gravatar Yes, but the Ramones version is clearly inferior. PJ is more palatable. Not PJ Harvey, Pearl Jam. PJ Harvey is not palatable.

Gravatar Could be a bit cheesy in the same category as We are the Champions, and it has been used in commercials and the olympics but David Bowie's Heores. Good music when beating the Goliath Red Sox at Wrigley Field.

Gravatar How about the theme from the animated Transformers movie, "You've Got the Touch", which was covered by Brock Landers and Chest Rockwell in Boogie Nights?

Gravatar you've got the touch has my vote along with (your the best around) from karate kid.

Gravatar What would be great, if it were somehow possible, would be to have "America (F*ck Yeah!)" as the 2007 Chicago Cubs theme song. Just imagine all of Wrigley Field shouting...

"Fake tits! FUCK YEAH!"

Gravatar Wouldn't Another One Bites the Dust be a better song by Queen?

Gravatar Another One Bites The Dust isn't upbeat enough...
