Sorry, but you are high if you think the draft is overrated
no other draft in another sport is even close to as interesting, exciting or as important as this one...ok basketball's might be more important, just on numbers alone...but the draft is great
and Kiper is solid...he's even good on weekends on ESPN radio...which surprised me...he's solid when commenting on other sports
obviously, he knows more about college football than anything else...but he was surprisingly insightful on other sports too

Hm...I don't get ESPN radio very clearly on my commute, so I've never heard Kiper Jr. do anything but college football. I can't picture him talking about baseball or basketball.

None of the drafts are interesting (in my opinion), so who really cares which pile of poop smells best?
Maybe its just because I'm a baseball guy, and the baseball draft is pretty meaningless when it happens (its important to draft well, but the drafts rarely work out as predictably as football/baseketball), but I gotta agree with Daft. Does anyone watch passed the first round?
ESPN spends a lot of money trying to convince me that I should care, and yet I can't.

Kiper isn't that good on the radio. I hear him pretty often on the weekends when I'm out doing stuff. It's mostly football, even if baseball should logically be the topic of the day.
The draft is overrated primarily because, after the first few picks, even a real sports fan has no idea who any of these guys are. We've never seen the majority of them play. At least in the basketball draft, you've likely seen the draft picks playing in the tourney a few months before.
It also goes to the age old idea that football players wear helmets, thus they are less identifiable to the public. Totally true. I cannot put one face to one name. I can only assume Howie Long's son also has a crew cut.
The results are just as random as baseball. Aside from QB, WR, and RB, it is very hard to judge the impact of any other players, particularly linemen. But even WR, RB, and many QB's end up as huge, huge busts. Mike Williams, Carlos Rogers, your Ryan Leafs and Rex Grossman's of the world. Reggie Bush?
To be televised for two days is a bit ridiculous. Then you go and add in Colin Cowherd as an analyst. Oh, Jesus. Granted, the guy knows college football better than any other sport, but holy hell is he atrocious. Have fun watching it. I'll be doing normal things on my weekend. Overhyped, overrated piece of shit.

Well said Brant.
I enjoy the IDEA of the draft, but the draft itself is always a massive letdown. Drafts are better in to look back on in hindsight than to watch in real time. It's fun to go back after a few years and see who your team COULD have gotten that turned out good. But as of draft day, it's a crap shoot. No one *really* knows the shit from the shinola.

Meh. My buddy hunkers down all weekend for the NFL draft. Acts like he's there picking the players.
It's insane.
I don't watch pre-season anything. I only get interested in football and baseball on opening day.
then i'm hanging on every bit of info.
