Gravatar I agree with your assessment, for the most part.

Just keep in mind that with A-Hole, I mean A-Rod opting out. Rivera leaving. And Posada following suit...you are freeing up quite a bit of cash to go along with the shitload Steinbrenner already has.

Steinbrenner=Scrouge McDuck (i.e. he probably swims in his money)

Gravatar Hilarious article. Its exactly what I've been saying. I thought it was absurd that the A's fired their manager after last year, when he got them to the post season... and here we have the Yankees firing a manager whom they've had for twelve years, who'd gotten them to the post season in *EACH AND EVERY YEAR IN WHICH HE MANAGED FOR THEM*. A manager can't make, or break a team... but he can swing a few games over the course of a season. Torre is one of those managers who you can count at least three Yankee wins each year as his.

Thats the difference between the Yankees making the post season, and the Yankees not making the post season in 2000 (when they won it all), and 2004.

If you expand that to Joe Torre being worth 4 wins over the course of a 162 game season, you can add *ANOTHER* two seasons where the Yankees wouldn't have made the post season.

Thats four years out of twelve that Joe Torre took the Yankees to the world series, when I don't feel a replacement manager would have.

The Yankees are boned. It'll be fun watching Toronto have a chance (sucks to be in the same division with two dynasty teams... even the Wildcard is out of reach).
