Gravatar The Israeli government cojuld be doing
a lot more regarding these prisoners, especially Gilad Schalit.

But it appears that there are other "priorities". I wonder how P.M. Olmert would react if his own son was in this situation.

I guess we'll never get to know this, however.

Gravatar I think thats what these groups who take prisoners what.....for the Goverment to react in some way or another. Its never thought that the lives of these prisoners is not of high value, but to allow the enemy use them as tool in any way will only give them power and desire to grab more prisoners.

Gravatar I doubt Hamas will let Shalit go for he is the only thing that is keeping the leadership of Hamas alive today. The second Shalit goes free Hamas knows that Israel will FINALLY (FINALLY!!!!!!!) act to put an end to the THOUSANDS OF ROCKETS AND MORTARS THAT HAVE HIT ISRAELI CIVILIAN AREAS without any IDF reaction!

The only way to get him back is to make it clear the Hamas' leaders will suffer MORE with him in captivity then with him free. Constant attack, targetted assassinations and airstrikes WORK! This has been proven again and again. When nothing is done and Israel relies on these semi-official "talks" nothing happens. Mubarak or Heinia make headlines that a deal is "imminent" but these deals never make it to fruition. The rockets keep flying, the suicide bombers still try to cross into Israel, the indiscriminate targetting of Israelis continues.

CONVERSLY, when Israel puts 24hr/7dy PRESSURE on Hamas leadership then we DO SEE RESULTS. When this occurs Hamas generally BEGS for a ceasefire. We all know what a ceasefire means for groups like Hamas, it is a Hudna, like the Hudna Muhammed entered into with the Jews. A Hudna is just a period of regrouping after your forces have been hit hard, it is a time to heal, rearm and re-entrench and then hit the enemy hard, as Muhammed did to the Jews (I believed it was at Khyber). It proves that Hamas is hurting. ISRAEL'S MISTAKE IS ALWAYS GRANTING THESE ABSURD "TIME OUTS".

What type of military strategy allows the enemy TIME OUTS? What type of politician accepts the word of an enemy who has a 0% record on ceasefires (they hit Israel with Kassam rockets during the entire first week of the latest hudna).

Hamas needs to be hit, hit hard, then hit again. If they beg for a Hudna then it should be sign of victory and the actions must be INCREASED.

A similar approach should be taken with Hezbollah. This group is in an ACTIVE, "HOT" war against Israel and Jews Worldwide. In the times between attacks they dig tunnels, rearm and plan for the "next round". Israeli's want peace SO BAD THAT THEY ARE SEEING PEACEMAKERS WHERE THERE ARE NONE. Peace will come when the Arabs approach the Israelis, when they stop teaching their children to hate, when the curriculum is changed, when they allow Israel to play in their sport leagues, when anti-Sematism is made a crime.

Hezbollah needs to be crushed NOW, especially considering the Iran issue. Iran, despite what some pocket pundits will have you believe, is ABSOLUTELY NO MATCH FOR THE ISRAEL ARMY IN A CONVENTIONAL BATTLE. They are fielding OLD RUSSIAN EQUIPMENT and some really old American arms that are probably poorly maintained & supplied, their Air Force is NON EXISTENT. Israel won wars when it had OBSELETE TECHNOLOGY & was VASTLY OUTNUMBERED; Today the tables have turned, Israel has greater numbers and is at least 1-2 generations ahead of Iran in Air & Armoured Power.

That said, Iran's answer to any Israeli defensive action would be to activat
