I agree with you and I work in Healthcare Finance. The one point I'll quibble over is that you make it sound like the MBA's make tens of millions a year themselves.

It's more like they make tens of millions a year (or in the case of my super-mega-ultra-humongous HealthCareCorp, billions a year) for their companies.

Then the companies reward them with perks, decent salaries, prestige, status, promotions, warm fuzzies, etc.

Sociopaths and other anti-social types are well represented in the healthcare MBA crowd, so those inducements work very well.

I absolutely agree that we must decouple any idea of profit from health care. It's simply insane to be making money off of people's misery as we are.

Thanks for pointing that out; I suppose from the perspective I get all of this from they look more or less the same (the same budget gets drawn out, obviously.) The MBAs do make more than the doctors, but you're probably right that they don't make quite that much more.

Fuck the insurance system.
