Fatman, just off-topic, anecdotal polling here: how do you feel about Rudy?
Actually Knemon, the only two candidates who I'd be less likely to vote for than Rudy Giuliani would be Hillary Clinton and John McCain.
Giuliani is pro-abortion, pro-gun control, a liar (he cheated on his wife) and if Bernie Kerik is any indication, he's not too careful about who he appoints to positions in his administration. (Kind of sounds like Bill Clinton, now that I think about it.) There's also more than a whiff of dictatorial arrogance about him that both irritates and alarms me. He also seemed to tolerate the sort of mindset (at least in the NYPD) that led to the Abner Louima assault. That REALLY scares me.
I never liked him either, for the same reasons.
I always feel safer when the President is from one party and the Congress is controlled by the other. That limits the damage they can do.
Unfortunately, it also limits what Congress and the President can accomplish. Remember the gridlock from the Clinton adminstration? Not a good thing, especially in wartime.
