The economic times reflect the happenings that occurred back in the Great Depression. For many this is the first or for retirees the second time in their life that they are having to face economic hard times. Dreams are being lost as well as identity. Too many Americans define one's worth by the job or position they hold.
I do empathsize with all retirees who live on a fixed income and workers who may be losing their pensions, investments and within 18 months will be facing higher taxes and hyperinflation from all of the Government spending. I live in Michigan and this State can only think and see higher taxes. The State depends on sales tax and the State income tax, but no one is "spending" or "working" so to speak. Some cities are posting unemployment at 15+%, and this is before GM closes all of its plants for 10 to 11 weeks or more this coming summer. It's going to get uglier before it gets better.
What to do? Turn to family and faith. It's not worth losing a life over this, because no one is alone in this crisis. What looks bleak today will change tomorrow with promise and opportunity. Doors close, but other doors open. I think Susan Boyle's story and song involving "the dream" struck a chord "globally." If you haven't heard her sing go to youtube.com -- music to the ear and uplifting with an inspirational note.

If we start losing more people next to homes and still turn a blind eye then we deserve to be accountable for our lack of sensibility towards the lives of others.
This is our wake up call, they died for no reason. They are telling us something and we better listen.Feeling sorry will only make us follow them sooner. We may not be able to change the world but standing up and reaching out to help someone may make a world of difference to theirs.

NOt only is the Govt. not working for you, the Legal system isn't either! To all those other pro se Defendants out there I say well done, even if you've lost. Find out about voidjudgments at www.voidjudgments.com, reopen your cases with HOEPA & TILA violations. The Courts aren't hearing our pleas and we need to make it overwhelminly obcious that we will not stand for this by flooding the Courts to the point of slowing them to a crawl. BTW, I started my foreclosure in Feb of 2008. At that time I also started doing Google and Yahoo search's for the keywords "foreclosure +suicide" and "forclosure+homicide". I recorded the # of hits each got.
Feb 7th, 2008
Foreclosure Suicide
Google = 78,600
Yahoo = 2,620,000
Feb 20, 2009 (same parameters)
Google = 1,040,000
Yahoo = 9,050,000
Feb 7th, 2008
Foreclosure Homicide
Google = 95,200
Yahoo = 1,090,000
Feb. 20th, 2009
Google = 303,000
Yahoo = 6,730,000
You can do the math any way you like, but ONE is to many! So there it is in black and white and rising. I wrote these figures gown in a notebook and just rediscovered them, I have 2 or 3 pages of them that might make a nice addition to an article if you like. I've already scanned them into my computer and can email them to you. Of course these numbers only represent articles on the internet and not actual deaths, but still, this does go to prove the major impact of loss being suffered today by mortgage foreclosure inflicted pain.

@Regina...sister, i had no idea that was the reason behind your move..LOOK AT U! and ONLY U would think of something that creative to pass onto the presidential candidates!!
@Plastic...thank u sweetie!
@Believer....the corporations..under the guise of helping America realize their dream of homeownership..didn't count the cost...and the script got flipped in their face!!
@Rawd...all indications seems to be pointing that way..sigh

The way things are going with the economy, debate aside, I would not be surprised if the next stop will be martial law.

It's so much more than debt or foreclosure. How do you tell someone who's worked hard for everything they have and in an honest way, to start over or worse yet start from the bottom? I believe that's where the weight of the issue is.
I'm sorry to hear of these losses of human life who had much more to contribute. Sad.

Wow, simply amazing. I knew about Ms. Polk but had not heard of the others. I guess to some it is that serious.
I have a house in NY that is about to be in foreclosure but to me my life is worth more than a foreclosure record on my credit report. I lost my job, things got bad, so I moved to TX and am starting over. My life good bad or indifferent is worth more than that.
BUT, having said all of that If they can give Wall street billions, why can't they just by my house too and stop the foreclosure??????
LOL! I wrote McCain and Obama a letter saying that whichever one wants to buy my house can get my vote!!!! Yea, they didn't get back to me yet!!!

If the government can give $850 billion to the fat-cat Wall Street elite, why can't they GIVE that money to the people who need it most? Damn a $600 stimulus check. That ain't nothing but gas and groceries. The 545 people we have making rules and legislation need to get a clue!
Sorry, I needed to vent. This is the blog to vent on isn't it?

I live in Miami and we are definately the most devastated by these foreclosures. The government needs to step and help with this crisis. There is no reason that people should become so desperate that they even THINK about taking their own lives as well as their families. Vote for change NOW!

It is really insane that as a country we are allowing this to happen. Although these people have other options, I understand their dismay at not getting the help they need. I don't understand why they chose to kill themselves & their families, but I agree the government needs to get a grip on the situation.
